Do these Concepts from “Lara Croft and the The Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris” show the arm grapple and double holsters?!

I didn’t play the games so I wasn’t sure if it’s a concept for an arm grapple or something else. I know eventually they went with the belt one like LAU.

The reason I’m wondering is because “franchise modeler” Kam Yu is behind these and LOA character design. So, maybe he revisited these concepts and implemented the ideas into LOA.

Thoughts?

Melee combat in Tomb Raider

Since the next mini-doc is about combat. It got me thinking about melee combat in the series. And how it’s a natural progression going forward.

In pre-Survivor games, adult Lara did some kicking and punching. And in the Catalyst trailer she does that awesome Spider-Man kick.

We’ve come a long way from those clunky weird kicks in AOD LOL.

I also always loved how they did it in the movies. Both Angelina & Alicia looked so beautiful and fierce in hand to hand combat. It’s like I mentioned, such a natural progression and can’t wait to see how game Lara will do it.

So, are you looking forward or want to have the games rely a bit more on melee?

Cheers!

(Check this overview for what the series offered so far.)

Multiple Croft manors in 1 Tomb Raider game

This clip is from the latest episode of Tombs, Tea & Trauma podcast. It reminded me of this comment from our lovely member Cagesdeservemusic. Turns out, the idea could actually work.

Here’s the episode if you want to learn more. Discussion starts at 33:40.

So, what do you think? Too much work for Winston? 😆

For the Brits in the sub: What makes Tomb Raider quintessentially British? 🇬🇧🫖

There’s the manor and aristocracy.

Which the latest comics gave a little exposition on: >!something about Lara wanting to open the manor’s library to the public. For revenue, to give back?! I assume it’s something aristocratic families do.!<

But, are there other things in Tomb Raider that you’d associate with British culture that people from other cultures wouldn’t immediately notice? Big or small.

Finally:
Are there things that you’d add or make accurate? And to what extent should it matter?

Cheers love!

Is it really THAT bad to have Survivor gameplay in LOA?

Apart from excessive slow walking, un-skippable cutscenes and the lame story. I never found the gameplay boring. And I think it makes for a solid base for LOA aka the first game in the unification.

I get the concern of it not feeling fresh. But, improving on and adding things from each era helps with that problem.

They’re also introducing completely new ideas that we have yet to try.

So, is having Survivor gameplay (not story) a dealbreaker for you?

Thanks!

The ingredients chosen to create the perfect Lara Croft

Sugar: confidence and independence from the Classics.

Spice: charisma and sense of authority from LAU.

& Everything nice: openness from Survivor.

And an extra ingredient called: Flying Wild Hog.

Thus the unification is born! Using the ultra superpowers of the dual pistols and the spirit of adventure.

To fight the allegations of “this is not the real Lara” and the forces of sadness.

The mirrors from City of Khamoon (TR1 & LOA).

Those mirrors aren’t static any longer and are clearly a puzzle in LOA🪞✨

They’re in the Egypt levels. Specifically City of Khamoon & Obelisk of Khamoon in TR1.

Edit: This is speculation. Not a fact.

This outfit is hella stylish!

I want one ASAP!
It looks cozy, practical, and feminine. Lara would totally buy this. The taste level so far is commendable. Brava Flying Wild Hog 👏

What did you guys think of this new addition/switch?

Unfinished Title Business

I find most of the recent TR titles repetitive or sound similar to other titles out there. Like The Legend of Aang/Korra, Hogwarts Legacy,… etc.

Even the term “Chronicles” is already in a Tomb Raider game. Why use it for the book that is going to verify the new timeline?!

Everything from the Classics era to the Survivor era (including expansions, comics..) have had interesting titles.

Sure, if something is good it’s good. But, still. Attractive, distinctive titles establish a vibe.

Out of the latest I find Catalyst the most exciting. The comic “Sacred Artifacts” 2nd best because it’s intriguing.

Wdyt? And can you come up with a better title!

(I wrote this caffeinated and a little jittery. So, it could come off too direct. But, please read it pleasantly. Like my double iced espresso).
