5k and 10k PB based on vanilla NSM during my marathon build up

Second post on my NSM journey.

After my half marathon PB in April based on vanilla NSM (see my first post), I stepped up the vanilla NSM plan from 7,5 hrs to 8,5 hrs in the build up for this year's Berlin Marathon.

Beginning of August, I PR'ed in the 10k (42.03) and yesterday in the 5k (19.35). The 10k felt a little bit too "easy", the 5k a local parkrun was pure all out bringing me sub 20.

Re. NSM plan towards Berlin Marathon: as described by James, key sessions are x by 5k (for me x by 18 minutes). Currently at 3x 18' SubT as a standard and once 4x 18' SubT - this will be the new normal towards a 5x 18' SubT key session later in the build.

Next key session is a half marathon which I will run slightly faster than marathon race pace. An all out half marathon might be too taxing for me.

What are your tweaks in the marathon build?

Zone 4 colour missing in pace chart

In the coros app, it seems that the yellow for zone 4 is missing. Anybody noticed it as well? Or did I miss something?

And yes, I know - it's not a big deal.

Feature Request: training load outlook/ planning

I regularly give feature requests to Coros via the app.

Recently one regarding training load outlook.

Background: switch this season to NSM and focusing more and more on training load.

Scope: display planned Training Load alongside actual Training Load in the app. Currently, we only see real past load, even though planned workouts already calculate a predicted load. Overlaying this planned load onto our main training charts would let athletes visualize their future fatigue, recovery, and fitness trajectory. This integration would make weekly training planning and load management infinitely easier.

I know, that this feature is already available in Coros training hub. But who is using a website when you have the app? Or coros training hub as an app? But why both in parallel?

What do you think?

Tourist Streak

Joined the parkrun community end of last year. Focused my local parkrun, but got into other parkruns while travelling. Just achieved my tourist streak badge. Really enjoyed this. Looking forward attending more and more parkruns. Thanks for this community 🙌

Feature Request: workout comparison

I regularly give feature requests via the apps.

Just submitted one for a work-out comparison feature.

When we repeat the same structured session (e.g., a weekly 3x12 min threshold run as part of a norwegian singles approach), we currently cannot easily track its progression. Allowing us to compare identical workouts over time to see how heart rate, pace, power, and efficiency develop would be incredibly helpful. Are we getting faster at a lower heart rate? Is RPE reducing with same pace over time. Seeing this specific progression in a dedicated view would make tracking training adaptations so much easier. Plus: creating a new distinctive progression-KPI is possible.

No changes in VO2max estimates

My VO2max estimates haven't changed at all. Is this normal? What would you recommend? What is your experience with updated VO2max estimates?

It's not a question about improving, but about a change at all.

Background: training at ~75km per week (3x SubT session, easy runs in between, 1x longrun); PR'ed in 5k and HM in march/ april; currently training for Berlin Marathon.

I'm doing the coros running fitness test quite regularly (every 6 to 8 weeks). My weight is up to date in coros.

Thanks.
