The difficulty of Pure Land lies in its very simplicity. Because our minds are complicated filled with doubt, ego, and attachment, we struggle to accept and trust a path that is so direct.
In truth, the teaching is meant to simplify: when we let go of overthinking and self-reliance, and instead entrust ourselves with sincere faith, vow, and recitation, what once seemed difficult becomes naturally easy. Pure Land is simple because of great compassion, yet it becomes complicated through our doubt and ego, we assume we know better and cling to our own views.
When faith is firm, the vow becomes sincere, and practice naturally follows. Rather than relying on conceptual thinking, we experience it directly through sincere chanting, wholeheartedly entrusting ourselves to and his vows. 🙏
