Me and some friends are planning a first time trip to Mexico. Considering the following combinations. For context, this happens to fall around dia de los muertos and would want to maximise enjoyment while being cautious of cost.

V1:
Mexico City for 4 days Oaxaca city for 4 days- this seems to maximise culture but will be expensive in Oaxaca for the celebrations.

V2:
Mexico City for 4 days Puerto Escandido for 4 days (with the hopes of driving to Oaxaca city for one day)

V3
Cancun and either Mexico City or Oaxaca city.

Are there any suggestions that offer a middle ground of sight seeing, culture and food tourism. As well as visiting beaches and seeing nature?
