What grade oil

Hi everyone , I’m drinking a 1.2 2018 500 . Just under 70,000 miles on the clock and living in Scotland , journeys are usually a 7 mile trip in a town , with occasional 60 mile round motorway trips and the very occasional distance trip .

Last oil change I chose castrol edge 5w 40 fully synthetic, it stated on the bottle for Fiat engines , Mechanic said I could use 5w 40 which is what handbook says , But mechanic says a 5w 30 could be used as well , anyone any opinions ? cheers

DIY oil change question

Hi I’ve got a 2018 1.2 500 , thinking of doing a driveway oil and filter change myself , Going to lift car at the front with two trolley jacks one each side of the car and then put on axle stands or ramps to allow me access to the sump plug and oil filter .

Question I’ve got though is surely if the car is raised at the front but the back wheels are still on the ground , will all the old oil drain out ? I’d have thought the car would have to be level to allow all the old oil to drain out or am I wrong ? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Any ideas keyfob not working

Hi everyone looking to see if anyone has any ideas about this it’s a 1.2 2018 fiat 500 so car is about 8 years old alougth we’ve only owned it 7 years , it’s sitting with just under 70,000 miles on it.

So about a year and a half ago the passenger door stopped working from the fob , No big deal to us drivers door and boot still worked from the fob so just used the inside door handle to lock and unlock it .. About 3 months ago fob stopped working ( opening and locking drivers door and boot , changed the battery in the fob and it worked again job done .

About 5 days ago I dropped wife at work car worked fine in the morning, then when I came home 15 mins later car wouldn’t lock or respond to the fob , and still won’t respond to the fob , we can lock and unlock doors manually and start engine from the key but here’s a few strange things .

When locking the door from the key the boot won’t lock , But when I come out in the morning the boot has locked .

yesterday after the car not responding to the fob for about 3 days it suddenly worked yesterday but only for a few times then stopped working again , Tried what we thought was a better make battery in the fob ( a Duracell ) it makes no difference .

When I was changing batteries in the fob the metal.bit that hold the battery with the prongs in it came out from the plastic part which it’s not supposed to do but it’s went back in again , Anyway anyone got any ideas thanks ? Or do the fobs just working ad they get older ? I’ve only got the one fob . But thanks in advance for reading , and any replies .
