Tell a white lie to be kind or be honest?

I took up watercolour last year and my son and his partner gifted me some classes, which I was really thrilled about.

I attended the first lesson, but it wasn’t a watercolour specific class and basically the other people in the class were working on acrylic artworks at various stages. I was given a picture to copy and the cheapest paper and paint to use. It’s exactly the brand that is sold at local dollar stores. The teacher would just pop over occasionally to make suggestions. I learn more from watching YouTube tutorials.

I use better quality products at home and I’m debating whether it’s worth returning. I told my son that I was starting the classes. Am I being a ungrateful cow if I don’t go back? And if the subject of the classes comes up is it better to tell a white lie that they were okay, or should I be honest and tell them that they were poor?

Would you buy a property with known issues even if it’s priced accordingly?

Hi all. I’m thinking of selling my home, but I’m not quite ready for the real estate agent chats yet. My property is over 20 years old and is starting to show its age.

I have some leaking in my shower and it’s going to cost me around $8k to repair just that section, which due to new tiles won’t match the rest of the bathroom.

I also have some issues with water damage to some full length timber windows which will need replacing soon.

I got some agents to value my place about 4 years ago when I was originally planning to sell, but life happened and the sale plans got postponed. At the time they all said not to do anything as the new owners may want to put their own stamp on things, but these issues have become noticeable since then.

I’m deciding if I should bite the bullet and do the repairs/updates myself before selling, or if it’s not worth it financially and stress wise. If you generally like a house but a number of items came up on the building inspection, would it put you off buying, even if the house was priced with these issues in mind?
