Any recommendations for kids’ Pokémon trainer costume that’s not Ash?

My 5 year old daughter wants to be a pokemon trainer for Halloween. What are some good options for it to be obvious that’s what she is? I was thinking layering clothing seems to be one common outfit? She specifically doesn’t want Misty’s outfit (or Ash). Her favorite trainer is Liko, but I feel like it’s not enough? She has stuffed pokemon we’ll be bringing as well. I also don’t want to spend hundreds on one outfit for one evening. Thanks :)

Edit: thanks for all of your recommendations! I’m for sure getting her the clip belt for pokeballs, and a hat! I also found some bags on the poke center that would work perfectly so she can keep her Sprigatito buddy with her. I’ll also be ordering a pokeball candy bucket. As for the outfit, I’ll let her decide that part when it gets closer! I really appreciate all of your ideas!

Wonder kit from science unlocked is terrible.

If you’re planning on getting Wonder Kit from Science Unlocked for kindergarten, don’t. It’s such a frustrating experience. We got it through our charter school, because it says it’s for kindergarten, and it definitely isn’t. There are such complex topics that my child has no interest in. Even the questions are too much for such a young age. It’s also not for people that live in downtown city high rises. Theres a lot of projects that need to be outside, which you can’t really do on a communal roof (such as lighting a tea bag on fire and watching it float to explain heat and gas). I was so excited to use these, as I thought it would be simple experiments for young kids, when it’s definitely for older kids.

Are you a schedule or vibes homeschooler?

How fluid are your schedules? Do any of you just set a chunk of your day for school, then do everything within that time, or do you actually set times for each individual thing? We have one child, and work weekends, so we usually just go off vibes as to what we do, but still within our requirements. I’m just curious what others do!

Facebook homeschool groups are horrible.

I live in a big metro city, so I thought I would try it out, but boy was I wrong. The first time I’ve used Facebook in years and it’s just awful. It’s only ads for mlm, personal business/tutoring and anti vaccines. Are all the groups like this? Also to add, because it feels important to anti vaccine part, I’m in Southern California. We’re doing a charter, so I’m sure we will find some groups, but, where do you guys find your people, because it can’t be Facebook.

Curriculum for kindergarten picked! Charter homeschool.

This is what I decided to do within the guidelines for our school. What are your thoughts? Are there better choices in place of what I’ve picked? We may change some things based on what our education partner weighs in, but I feel like it’s pretty solid?

Reading/ phonics : all about reading
Writing : Handwriting without tears (unsure of this one. Child knows how to write already, so I don’t want to backtrack)
Math : Primary mathematics standards edition (thanks to all of you!)
Social studies : Primary social studies OR 180 days of social studies
Science : Science unlocked wonder kits

If anyone has suggestions for a writing program to start with a child that already knows how to copy sentences, please let me know! Thanks :)

Which is better for Kindergarten math?

We have two choices with our charter homeschool and I’m not sure which is truly better? They seem very similar? The I-Ready is the one the hybrid program at our school uses, but the homeschool program has the choice between the two. Is it better to just use the same one the hybrid uses and hope it’s good?

California charter homeschools

I found a charter school within my county that does homeschooling with the help of an educator. For parents that are part of one, how do you like it? If you move, do you have to find a new school even though it’s home school? Do they provide all the resources or are the parents purchasing everything? Do they use the same curriculum as the public schools? Are they state tested? And yes, I know I can ask the school, but it’s Sunday and I want parent opinions as well! Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you:)

Looking for restaurants with great cocktails in downtown!

We live in east village and want to walk/ take the trolly somewhere in downtown to get great cocktails for our anniversary dinner. We have our child joining us, so it needs to be somewhere that serves food. Thanks so much! :)
