This was such a fun project, even if its a very questionable idea😂 The high point adds about 9" to the car and it tapers back to 7". Its also improved my fuel efficiency about 1.5mpg which is pretty outstanding. I think it added less than 70lbs to the car considering everything I removed. The roof rail supports were fairly heavy. The cap was made with a spendy, ultralight plywood, kevlar, a zero VOC epoxy, and linen. I couldn't be happier!
I ordered cargo nets to hold things in the roof as I cut it in a way that creates sizeable shelving. But they didn't come in on time for this trip. My inverter is also in the roof now so it makes the bed more sleepable as well. Now I can also comfortably sit up in the bed. I'm 6'1" and had to hold my head at a good 45 degree angle to clear it considering the bed is high for storage underneath.
