It seems like not much has advanced since then, while we have seen some movements in things like renewable power, the vast majority of stuff seems to just be 'the same'. Has anything groundbreaking or in any other way huge happened?

I'm not sure if this question is worded correctly, while I get that technology definitely has changed, it does not appear to have changed in the way where 'revolutionary new things' are emerging as they seemed to through the last century.
