Why is it so hard to find kids dress shoes that actually look like proper shoes anymore

Every time i need to dress my kids up for something, a wedding, a family event, first communion, whatever it is, i end up in the same exhausting loop.

Everything in regular stores either looks too casual, too plasticky, or trying so hard to be trendy that it'll look completely dated in photos two years from now. the patent leather stuff always looks cheap up close and falls apart after one wear which honestly feels criminal for what they charge.

My mum used to put us in these really classic european style shoes when we were little and looking back at those photos they just look so clean and timeless. nothing flashy, nothing costume-y, just proper leather shoes that looked like a smaller version of something an adult would actually wear.

I feel like that whole category has quietly disappeared from regular stores and now you have to really hunt for it.

Has anyone found good quality traditional looking kids dress shoes that actually hold up or have you all just accepted that one event shoes are basically disposable now.
