Is a Masters in Cybersecurity Worth it Today?

Hello,

I graduated with a degree in CIS in 2025. I started as an IT Help Desk Technician at my first place, a casino, worked there for about a year. Got hired at another casino, the IT department’s small so not only are we doing IT Help Desk related stuff but a little bit more. Been here for about 5 months now.

I really want to get out of IT Help Desk. I tried getting into Networking, only to realize that I really don’t have much interest in Networking at all. Is a Cybersecurity masters worth pursuing in this day and age? How are the job prospects as of right now? Do we absolutely need certifications if we’re first starting off in Cybersecurity (after obtaining our masters).

I’m in a huge state of confusion where I absolutely do not like where I’m at but don’t know where to go. Not only that but working in IT Help Desk kinda made me hate IT a bit, but I unfortunately don’t know where to pivot toward and a part of me sorta believes that IT isn’t entirely bad.

Skipped minoxidil two days

Hello,

I have a question about ibuprofen usage and minoxidil. I was told to avoid ibuprofen as it can interfere with the oral minoxidil (2.5 mg) that I take daily.

I had a headache twice this week. I didn’t want to take any risks and my headache was killing me, so I skipped the daily minoxidil that day and used ibuprofen. Same thing today.

Basically there were two days this week where I had to skip out on minoxidil to use my ibuprofen and I was wondering if it could harm my minoxidil progress? It hasn’t been long since I’ve started minoxidil either, I hopped on about a month ago.

I’m aware acetaminophen is another medication I could use but I’m afraid the medicine hardly has an affect on me whenever I’d get these headaches.

Have you guys gotten perms before?

Hey everyone,

I was thinking about getting a perm at some point, still too early. I cut my hair short not too long ago and I am experiencing balding at the crown area, currently on 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil as well as 1 mg of finasteride, started earlier this month so still fairly recent. I’m 24 years old, male, if that’s worth mentioning.

I’m kind of curious to see if there are people here that are on both minoxidil and finasteride and have gotten perms while on both medications, and their experiences. I have seen people on minoxidil, finasteride, and/or both dye their hair but never really seen anyone get perms.

When to hop on finasteride?

Hello,

I’ve been on oral Minoxidil (2.5 mg) for roughly 2 weeks now. I am 24 years old. My mom pointed out a few months back that my crown is thinning. 3 weeks ago my barber said the hair on my crown is slightly lighter, so I decided to jump on minoxidil immediately.

From what I understand, the best way to get results would be to take both finasteride and minoxidil. When’s the best time to hop on finasteride? What should my schedule look like for taking finasteride? Would I have to take finasteride in the morning and minoxidil at night? Can I take finasteride and then minoxidil right after? Mainly asking about the routine here. I take my daily dose of oral minoxidil every night but apparently it’s better to take it in the day(?) Can anyone explain why?

What’s everyone’s “routine” look like?

Hello,

I recently got my prescription for oral minoxidil, Loniten, 2.5 mg, through GoodRX. I believe the medicine will be shipped within the next 2-5 days. I’m curious and wanted to know if taking a pill a day would bring enough for my “routine”. I was talking about it with a friend last night and he told me I may need to hop on finasteride as well.

I’m 24 years old, yesterday my barber told me that the hair around my crown area is slightly lighter than the rest of my hair. Will I need to up the dosage or include more to my routine? I haven’t even started yet, I might be over complicating this before I even started.

Planning to start minoxidil soon

Hello,

Currently new to this sub and new to this whole process really. I recently got a haircut, and my barber told my that the hair at my crown area feels a lil bit lighter than the rest of my hair. My hairline seems fine but I want to hop on as early as possible. My only concern is my cat.

I’ve heard minoxidil is lethal and pets should stay away from it at all times, hence why I don’t really want to hop on topical minoxidil. I was wondering how effective oral minoxidil is in comparison and how to obtain oral minoxidil, since it seems easier to obtain topical than oral minoxidil. Do I really need a prescription?

If it matters, I’m in the US. I’m 24 years old.

Transferring credits?

Hello,

I’m currently interested in the Bachelor of Science, Cloud and Network Engineering (Cisco Specialization). I already have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, from Stockton University. I was wondering if I’d be able to transfer my credits over to WGU?

Need help locking in and studying

Hey guys,

I’m currently a year into my IT career in IT Help Desk. I graduated back in 2025. Currently, I’m sick and fucking tired of IT Help Desk. Trying to upskill and study for certs but ever since I graduated, my will and motivation to study has been depleted. There are down time here and there at my workplace, but how do you guys remain focused and study for certs? Like what study regiments do you guys have? I’m trying to study for the CCNA, using Jeremy’s IT Labs. His videos are pretty great and I do like his Anki flash cards as well as his labs but how do you guys remain focused when studying for certs?

Maybe it’s because I recently joined another IT department after working at my previous IT department for a year. There’s a lot of shit I’m trying to learn and pick up on in my workplace and I’m trying to pivot toward a Networking related career as well and it just feels like information over-load right now.
