Need some advice about oral minoxidil

Hey guys

I have been using topical minoxidil for over a year now, but I’d like to try switching to oral minoxidil mostly for convenience and also better results.

I plan on taking 5mg daily.

I’ve looked into websites that sell it on Tressless, but I couldn’t figure out which product contains blister packs and which comes in a plastic bag (like the loxidil one from Thailand), as I’m looking only for blister packed pills to avoid humidity and oxidation

Does anybody know of a product? Also, would French Customs seize the product?

thank you very much

Is it worth it to take minox I’m scared

I really don’t know if I’m receeding or maturing, I can’t remember what hairline used to look like however I have a photo from when I was 14 of it.

I’ve been reading up on this Reddit about minox and heard some horrific experiences of people having healthy hair but just receeding a bit and loosing most their hair which terrifies me as hair is massive for me.

Should I Use Minoxidil Before Receiving an Official Diagnosis?

Hi guys so I need a bit of advice on how I should move forward.

About 3ish years ago I started noticing a lot of shedding whenever I'd wash and style my hair. My overall hair density was fine but in general my middle part looked a little wider than usual. Recently I (F18) noticed a lot of thinning around my crown area and a significant decrease in my overall hair density and my scalp has become more visible (my part resembles a christmas tree pattern when it's greasy). In addition to that, my hair sheds ALOT in the shower but not much when it's dry and some of the new growth is thinner then other hair strands. I had a doctor’s appointment and got some bloodwork done to check my vitamin d, iron, ferritin, thyroid and b12 levels. Everything was fine besides my ferritin which was at a 5. My doctor said this might be a potential cause for my hairloss but she said she isn’t going to rule out other causes. She told me to start taking iron supplements and come back in two months to get some more bloodwork done to see if my ferritin levels increase and if the shedding stops. My question is, while I'm waiting for my next doctor's appointment and taking iron supplements, should I start using topical minoxidil in the meantime? Or should I wait until I get an official diagnosis for my hairloss?

For those of you that have been on minoxidil for years, is it actually sustainable long term or does it just become another thing you have to manage forever?

Not fully balding or anything but noticed things feeling a little thinner lately and shedding more than usual my hairs feel fragile and like they come off so easily so I’ve been looking into minoxidil as an option. The stuff seems to work based on everything I’ve read but the part that nobody really talks about is what it actually looks like to commit to it long term.

Like I get that you have to stay on it or you lose whatever you gained, that part is well documented. What I want to know is from people who have actually been doing it for five, ten, however many years, does it just become a normal part of your routine or does it stay annoying. Does the twice a day thing ever stop feeling like a chore. Are there older guys in here in their 50s and 60s still applying it daily and is that just fine or does it get weird at some point.

Also genuinely curious if there’s a point where most people decide to just stop and accept it instead of continuing to manage it. Like is there an age or a threshold where people just tap out and feel fine about that decision.

Not looking for medical advice just want to hear from people who are actually living with this long term because most of what comes up when you search is just the basic clinical stuff about how it works. Want to know what it’s actually like as a lifestyle thing years in.

My rogaine foam melts quickly and not foaming

I’m new to this I live in a very hot humid city I just unboxed this and am not sure how to use this because I I put some foam on my hands and it melts right away in one second becomes liquid? Isn’t it supposed to remain foamy and thick?

This might actually be working, just way slower compared to others

Been using topical minoxidil 5% 1ml per day ( some days twice ) for 5 months now and all those smaller hairs are new, it’s just grows so slowly compared to other hyper responders. Also my hair in general seems thicker on top as well where I applied.

Did someone noticed these type of progress only after 5 months? Can I expect better results moving forward?

Many thanks!

Severe abominable pain?

I have been taking topical minox for about a year. It doesn’t really work. Maybe lack of enzyme?

Starting taking 2 drops of topical orally in morning and 2 more at night to go systemic. For a few weeks. This Does work. Baby hairs present.

Just had a bout of severe abdominal pain that sent me home from work. It got much worse after eating. The whole bout lasted about 10 hours.

Hurt to breath, hurt to move. Couldn’t realistically stand fully upright or stretch out.
Tucking my legs up against body helped.

Anyone else experienced this?
I know topical is supposed to be used topically….

If this was minox, I’m not sure if being bedridden for 5 hours is worth more hair….

Switching from topical to oral Minoxidil

So I’ve been on oral Fin and topical Minoxidil since August 2024.

I’ve noticed the crown of my head appears less thin, my overall thickness in general is better but my temples appear to have slightly worsened. I do have e some very fine “baby hair” around the temples since I started treatment but other than that there’s no noticeable difference.

I’m not expecting miracles but since I’ve read a lot of things that oral Min is far superior, I’m wondering if I may aswell switch? I’m obviously going to be on the two for life anyway.

I didn’t have much shedding when I started on the oral and topical combo so my biggest worry is the switch will cause a massive shed.

Any advice?

Scalp Massage and Minoxidil: Does Mechanical Stimulation Boost Follicle Activity?

Okay, so we all know minoxidil is the king, but I've been seeing a lot of talk about scalp massage lately. It feels great, sure, but does it *actually* help hair grow, or is it just a nice placebo? I've been digging a bit, and it seems like the idea is that the physical pressure might increase blood flow to the scalp. Some research suggests that better blood supply could deliver more nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles. There's also a theory that the mechanical stress itself could potentially trigger some growth factors. I'm curious if anyone has noticed a difference when combining a good scalp massage with their minoxidil routine, especially in areas like the temples.

will i enter another shed phase if i switch medication?

Hello,
I'm currently on oral minoxidil, I've been on it for about 2 months. I think there is some regrowth (hard to tell though, I *think* my side part might not be as wide as before).

I don't like it too much though, i don't like how much hair i have everywhere now, i have to shave my cheeks and my temples, and I don't like it. I'm thinking about switching to topical minoxidil. Will I go through another shedding phase? And: should I stop minoxidil and just switch to fin?

i started oral minox a month ago, because i'm balding and 1 year of dutasteride 1mg a day didn't stop it (so now they are in combo)... but i have a latent side effect: tachycardia and insomnia

everyone else? i sleep around 10-12h if i don't set an alarm (normally 8), but every now and then, since when i started minoxidil, i'm literally not able to close my eyes and i stay like that, lurking in the dark, until someway hours and hours later in the complete silence i'm able to close them for 1-3h before my alarm (if it's a working day). i think it might be related to tachycardia because while i'm bored in the bed i can clearly feel my heart beat. is it something that i get used to, with time, so i will sleep easily as time passes by?
