Next trip
Hi all, just returned from our most recent trip, to La Toc where we reached Emerald, and put a place holder deposit on Dunns River for the B1B- Mammee Bay Beachfront Butler Suite for May 2028. Looking for any insight / input on this resort or recommendations. I am 49 and wife is 50. We are very social people, typically will sit by the pool, I can be found in the pool with a floatie doing drink service for my wife. Then we will routinely walk to the beach for a dip or a nice walk.
We were initially going to book Grenada, but after this trip, we were pretty wiped after the long travel days, so I jumped the gun for a shorter travel day (direct flight to Jamaica).
With having two years to recharge our travel batteries, here is a bit of info on us.
We have been to:
South Coast, liked the long walkable beaches and varying pool bars, didn't much care for the ocean water, drive to the resort was brutal
Sandals Grande St Lucian, loved the layout of the resort and beach, vibes at the main bar were a little too much for my wife, I believe there was a large wedding party there while we were there as we didn't have a butler at this resort and often stayed at the neighboring pool with the small "lazy river". Wife loved the views from the ocean in our club level beach front room.
Grande Antigua, loved the layout of the resort, loved the beach, and this was our first butler experience so we never had an issue with the chair game, which was nice. Really enjoyed the vibes at this resort, fun main pool and swim up bar.
Royal Bahamian, loved the private island, the main campus was fine I suppose, decent main pool, second time using butler service, which helped, won't return, as it wasn't our vibe.
Regency La Toc, two story butler suite (816) with private plunge pool. Absolutely loved the room, traveled w friends and did a vow renewal. Vibes at the Armando's pool were very cool for us, but the layout of the resort wasn't ideal for us. Obviously found it a chore to visit the beach main part of the resort... which isn't an indictment of La Toc, just personal experience. We absolutely loved the people, staff and had a great time.
Now with eyes forward, we had heard great things about Grenada, Dunns and Saint Vincent. We were apprehensive about doing Grenada or Saint Vincent and felt that we would do it if we could add another night to our vacation to compensate for travel.
Additional insight, we prefer a separate living room and bedroom as I wake up early and will typically brew coffee in the morning or walk the resort until the coffee shop opens to return with coffee for us both.
Again we typically enjoy sitting in the pool areas with a short distance to the ocean (typical of most sandals resorts)
Love unobstructed views from the room, overlooking the resort and ocean.
Food: we are not picky eaters, but are very interested in trying some of the newer resort offerings in 2.0.
Any insight or experiences would be greatly appreciated, or if I missed something... please let me know.
Quick edit / add: for budget, after the discount from the loyalty desk and points we are looking at approx 11k without airfare.
