Royal Plantation in October

My wife and I are booked for RP in early October for our anniversary. Our last two trips to Sandals were to Dunn's and Ochi. Both were in Feb/Mar time frame. We flew into Ian Flemming airport and had a short trip to the resorts. We are trying to book our flights for this trip and it appears that the airlines either drastically cut their flights or aren't taking reservations that far out yet. We would really rather not have to fly into MBJ if we can avoid it. Ochi is so much closer. Does anyone know about the flight situation? Can I expect flights to Ochi to open up as time gets closer?

Which one to choose? Royal Bahamian or Ochi

Which resort would you choose and why would you choose it? Looking at going to one of these resorts in November and if you have been to either in November how was the weather and the water temps?

Watching the NBA playoffs

Hey everyone! My partner and I are going to Sandals Ochi next week. My team is also in the NBA conference finals. Is there a place in the resort to watch these games?

January 2027

Hi there! Looking to do another Sandals stay in January 2027. We stayed at the Barbados location this past January and really enjoyed our time. What locations are similar to this? We prefer club level with a beachfront stay. Thanks in advance 😊

Next trip

Hi all, just returned from our most recent trip, to La Toc where we reached Emerald, and put a place holder deposit on Dunns River for the B1B- Mammee Bay Beachfront Butler Suite for May 2028. Looking for any insight / input on this resort or recommendations. I am 49 and wife is 50. We are very social people, typically will sit by the pool, I can be found in the pool with a floatie doing drink service for my wife. Then we will routinely walk to the beach for a dip or a nice walk.

We were initially going to book Grenada, but after this trip, we were pretty wiped after the long travel days, so I jumped the gun for a shorter travel day (direct flight to Jamaica).

With having two years to recharge our travel batteries, here is a bit of info on us.

We have been to:

South Coast, liked the long walkable beaches and varying pool bars, didn't much care for the ocean water, drive to the resort was brutal

Sandals Grande St Lucian, loved the layout of the resort and beach, vibes at the main bar were a little too much for my wife, I believe there was a large wedding party there while we were there as we didn't have a butler at this resort and often stayed at the neighboring pool with the small "lazy river". Wife loved the views from the ocean in our club level beach front room.

Grande Antigua, loved the layout of the resort, loved the beach, and this was our first butler experience so we never had an issue with the chair game, which was nice. Really enjoyed the vibes at this resort, fun main pool and swim up bar.

Royal Bahamian, loved the private island, the main campus was fine I suppose, decent main pool, second time using butler service, which helped, won't return, as it wasn't our vibe.

Regency La Toc, two story butler suite (816) with private plunge pool. Absolutely loved the room, traveled w friends and did a vow renewal. Vibes at the Armando's pool were very cool for us, but the layout of the resort wasn't ideal for us. Obviously found it a chore to visit the beach main part of the resort... which isn't an indictment of La Toc, just personal experience. We absolutely loved the people, staff and had a great time.

Now with eyes forward, we had heard great things about Grenada, Dunns and Saint Vincent. We were apprehensive about doing Grenada or Saint Vincent and felt that we would do it if we could add another night to our vacation to compensate for travel.

Additional insight, we prefer a separate living room and bedroom as I wake up early and will typically brew coffee in the morning or walk the resort until the coffee shop opens to return with coffee for us both.

Again we typically enjoy sitting in the pool areas with a short distance to the ocean (typical of most sandals resorts)

Love unobstructed views from the room, overlooking the resort and ocean.

Food: we are not picky eaters, but are very interested in trying some of the newer resort offerings in 2.0.

Any insight or experiences would be greatly appreciated, or if I missed something... please let me know.

Quick edit / add: for budget, after the discount from the loyalty desk and points we are looking at approx 11k without airfare.

Butler at St Vincent

Hello! Stuck between the one bedroom butler suite and the lady palm ocean view… I like the lady palm room & view better but is the suite worth it for the butler at St. Vincent? Thanks 😊

Wearing Wedding Rings to the Beach?

Hi all!

We are headed to Sandals St. Vincent in 2 weeks for our honeymoon. This is more of a general question rather than a Sandals-specific question, but figured I could get some good feedback here, perhaps.

My original plan was to wear my engagement ring and wedding band everywhere but the beach/ocean on this trip, which I guess would include the excursion we have planned. However, I REALLY would like to just wear them both the whole time. That’s what I do at home. They are very snug and will not come off without some force. And I wouldn’t have thought anything of leaving the rings in the safe in the room if I hadn’t heard things online about them not actually being locked and the staff having a universal code and all that.

I was thinking of getting silicone rings for the two of us for when we are out at the beach and such, and then switch to the real ones for dinner and everything. Thoughts on all of this?? What have you all done in the past on vacation???

The French Restaurant is mid

Okay hear me out: I'm in Grenada and I've been to multiple sandals and the French Restaurant is just mid everywhere we go. I mean I'm in the Caribbean and I need to wear pants in 80 degree weather to go eat a mediocre chicken cordon bleu in a pretentious French restaurant? It's time to update the standards to cater to a non boomer audience. I mean this dude at deaths door was literally wearing a sports coat... In the fucking Caribbean... Are you kidding? Bro this isn't really "high class eating" I could get the same in Brooklyn.

The beaches are nice prettyuch everywhere but the food is key. If all you're offering is the same cookie cutter places at every resort what's the point of going to different locations? The French Restaurant is just the worst example overall. It's like they tell the staff to act pretentious.

The place isn't even full but it's just so uppity for no reason. "do you have a reservation" yea but you're half empty so it's not like it matters.

I'm really thinking that sandals is cutting costs. Everything used to be fresh and really high end now it's frozen reheated trash and boiled meats. It's kinda gross. I'm disappointed.

Butler service, yes or no?

We have been to 3 Sandals in our 20s, we went to Sandals Halcyon, Ochi and Grenada and always did a club level room, we went between 2015-2019. Since then we have been going to Mexico, Hawaii or locations without Sandals. We have loved the pool servers and service level of Atelier Playa Mujeres and some other places in Mexico etc, in our experience sandals never had good pool service which is now a big preference of ours. My question is, if we want that, do you think we need a butler? Or are there any options that do offer it without a butler? Would a butler solve this service issue for us?

In addition to that, we are looking to go over our anniversary and use a free night. Our budget is $10k without flights.

We plan to go late April, we like a lively resort, excellent food and drinks, we visited sandals grande st Lucia and loved the vibe but butler is out of budget there. We are big pool people and love a fun large pool. In addition to that we like a more modern look so want something renovated or a sandals 2.0. I was looking at Barbados, Montego Bay, Dunns, south coast, Grenada, curaçao and am very conflicted!

Sandals Jamaica

Hi! I’m looking to try this brand of resort. I read that West facing is the best chance of no sargassum. Can anyone suggest the best option? Most important is the beach! I’m aiming for October of this year. I know it’s hurricane season but I’ll get insurance!

St. Vincent Excursions

Hi all! Heading to St. Vincent soon with my husband. We need some excursion recommendations. What we're most interested in:

  • Want to do 2 activities
  • Want a snorkeling/boat ride
  • Also want a land adventurous one - 4wheelers, hikes, etc.
  • We also really want to see the natural stone arch (the pirate rock in Pirates of the Caribbean) - just driving by on the boat. Not super interested in the full set tour.
  • What is included excursion wise at the resort? We're not butler or club level. But are there snorkeling trips/boat rides available?

Thanks!

Restaurant reservation

Why does the app not allow you to make reservation for butch's in Grenada? Was able to do it last year when we went to Curacao. It works for the French restaurant but have no desire to go there.

Room Recommendations

Staying at La Toc end of June for our honeymoon. We are staying in a Sunset Bluff Honeymoon Oceanfront One Bedroom Butler Villa Suite with Private Pool (BS) room category.

I can’t seem to find a map with room numbers on it, and have seen other posts about some of these rooms having little privacy if they are close to Armando’s.

Does anyone have room number recommendations so that maybe we can request a room with a good amount of privacy?

Thank you!

2.5 weeks out from our trip and have a couple questions

Our trip is in a couple weeks and was hoping for some reassurance, guidance, protips etc. This is our first time out of the country and first time going to a resort.

I booked the helicopter transfer, if our flight gets in at 2, is an hour enough time to get off the plane and get to the helicopter? Do I need to let the resort know that we are taking that route?

It looks like the customs paperwork cannot be filled out until 3 days before our arrival time, what hiccups should I be aware of?

I booked some excursions over the phone, through the resort- but I cannot remember what days/times any of them were. Do they show up in the app closer to our trip date?

I was hoping to book a fishing charter and read to not book it with the resort. Any recommendations for companies? Will the resort still provide transportation for a vendor not associated with them?

Is the golf worth it?

What are items that people commonly forget to pack? Anything I should buy before I travel?

Thanks in advance

Sandals Barbados vs Sandals Royal Barbados

Which section would be best for us? I know one is more expensive than the other. BUT what's really important to us is the beach, someone told me that one section is like a lagoon and the water is flat. We like nice calm water. Another question is, how is the marijuana there? Is it hard to find? Can you do it out in the open? We just got back from Jamaica and it's not a problem at all there, can smoke it anywhere.

St Vincent Airport Lounge

When you fly home, Sandals takes you to the airport three hours early. The AIA Garifuna Lounge is totally worth it. It is $50 per person and includes comfortable seating, free food & drink (including alcohol), and nice bathrooms. We had already purchased pasta, water, and coffee from the main food court…only to find that the lounge offered all of this!

Also, note that the prices for everything in the food court and shops are in St Vincent dollars, so don’t freak out if you opt to buy something instead of the lounge. The USD cost is less than half the displayed price.

Honeymoon choice

Hello! I have a budget of about $8,000 today play with for our honeymoon. If you were between St. Vincent (one bedroom butler suite) or one of the St. Lucia La Toc (sunset bluff honeymoon with butler and private pool) which would you choose? The helicopter/ferry factor of st. Lucia is scaring me
