I was curious if the phrase written on Excalibur was a later addition to Arthurian legend or if it's something that was there early on?

I have a fairly surface level understanding of the lore, so apologies if it's an obvious question.

Hi Everyone,

I've been practicing lock picking for fun for a few years now and I've recently moved from pin and tumbler to tubular locks and can't seem to get the hang of it. I've watched a bunch of videos, read online help guides and so far have only managed to pick the practice locks a few times, with no real consistency. Has anyone else had the same trouble and has any advice as to how they were able to overcome it?
