A couple of days ago, I posted some unusual pairings in my current megahood and got a lot of great comments from you all. I took some of those into account, and also the game did things, and I've had several breakups in my last couple of play sessions:

• Ophelia Nigmos broke up with Romeo Monty for cheating. She found out the inevitable before they got married but not before she got pregnant. She's moved back to Strangetown and would like to get back with Johnny.
• Johnny Smith broke up with Erin Beaker because neither one wants to be tied down right now. Johnny's career has been going great. He arrested Loki Beaker for his crimes and is now the SWAT Team Leader. Will he want to get back with Ophelia? I don't know.
• Dustin Broke broke up with Lilith Pleasant because she wanted a more committed relationship than he did. In fact, he is currently sleeping with Erin. He moved back Downtown to work on his Criminal career. His former partner, Gordon King, was killed by the police or something, and Dustin is also seeing Gordon's former girlfriend (a townie I made).
• Bella Goth broke up with Darren Dreamer and kicked him out of the Goth Manor because she has found a new young artist to "sponsor"--which is Romeo Monty. Bella was the one Romeo was caught cheating with.

Darren was also seeing Kaylynn during this time, and I think of Kaylynn as being unusually fertile, so she has gotten pregnant by him. (She previously had Daniel's child.) So Darren has now moved in with her, but he does not want to get married because Darren in my game is a total loser (sorry to all the Darren lovers).

Also, Tank proposed to Puck! He rolled the want, finally. He popped the question at the Monty restaurant, and then Puck got him pregnant in the photobooth. Tank quit the military and moved Downtown with Puck so Puck could follow his ambitions to be in show business. Tank is now working in Law Enforcement, which I guess is not that much different from the military.

Young people: Buck Grunt did not go to college but moved on his own to Pleasantview. Lucy Burb did not go to college but moved Downtown. Tybalt Capp married Tom Freshe from Academie La Tour and is set to inherit Capp Manor, since Juliette and Hermia are estranged from the family. Alexander Goth is at Academie La Tour and dating Beatrice Monty. Hal Capp is dating Ellen Frost. Benedick Monty is at La Fiesta Tech and dating Blossom Moonbeam.

I don't really want to play a full-fledged prison with all of Simological's mods, but Loki needs to do time for his crimes. Right now, he's just sitting in the bin. Do you have any ideas for dealing with prisoners or do you play them at all?

• Puck Summerdream and Tank Grunt - well, they are not together because Tank won't commit, but they have 3 bolts and are in love; oddest of my odd couples
• Lazlo Curious and Dina Caliente - FWB until she got oopsie pregnant
• Angela Pleasant and Kristen Loste - dating
• Lilith Pleasant and Dustin Broke - together by default since their exes both dumped them; Lilith wants to get married, Dustin not so much
• Darren Dreamer and Bella Goth - the most dysfunctional and weird relationship in my game

Divorced:

• Loki and Circe Beaker - She cheated and tried to pass off Abhijeet's baby as Loki's (Abhijeet is now dead).
• John and Jennifer Burb - Incompatibility
• Daniel and Mary-Sue Pleasant - Divorced for cheating, Daniel got engaged to Kaylynn and had a kid with her, then he went back to Mary-Sue, and now they are remarried and Mary-Sue is pregnant

Always and forever:

• Juliette Capp and Mercutio Monty
• Ripp Grunt and Chloe Curious
• Oberon Summerdream and Kent Capp

Using the bubble blower lowers your hunger. So you get the munchies.

So I finally am playing a custom neighborhood that I really enjoy, and I just had some questions come up because usually I play the premade hoods and never get far with my custome ones. I'd like to get a sense from you long-time custom hood players what works for you.

- Do you build and place lots as you go or do you lay it all out at one time? My constant temptation is to put everything down at once, but this time I'm trying to build as I go and only place houses as I need them or community lots as it makes sense, and I think that's making the hood feel more like it's developing over time.

- When do you add new families? Just as you need them or do you rely on moving in townies to bring in new blood? I started with six families, but one of them was entirely wiped out in a fire, so now there's only five--which feels like enough for now, but maybe not for the long haul.

- Speaking of townies, how many do you like to have? I've been generating townies as I think I need them, but I don't want to have too many.

- Regarding owned businesses, do you pass them down within a family or sell them and pocket that windfall? I have one business right now, and it's pretty successful. It's an electronics store. I'm debating whether to sell it now that the owner is an elder and build a mansion or whether he should pass it to his son.

Really just looking for inspiration. Do you play a hood based on a fictional universe that you're a fan of, and if so, what kinds of things did you do to create your world? How did you decide which characters to make? Do you try to follow the storylines or was it just inspiration for design?

I was just playing on my lunch break and had the two wildest rotations in back-to-back households that I had to tell someone about.

In the household of Kaylynn Langerak and her now husband Martin Ruben, her daughter, Sophia Pleasant, decided to skip work and go on a blind date because she is trying to get a certain number of first dates. At just that moment, her boyfriend, Orion Tricou, was sent home early from work. He caught her and there was a slapfest, resulting in a very bad date, and Orion moved out. Martin then got on the big telescope, as he does every night, and was abducted by aliens. As soon as he got home, he was dumped in the front yard where the leader of the pack was hanging out, and he got turned into a werewolf. (I have a mod that allows random wolf biting.) So now he is both a werewolf and alien-pregnant.

Across the street to the Pleasant household. Everyone but Angela, Dustin, and Mary-Sue's boyfriend Conrad (Mr. Big) went to school or work. Immediately, Angela hopped into bed with Conrad. She and Dustin had been having some problems, but they had been working it out, they were getting along, and she only has one bolt with Conrad, so was not expecting this. Of course, Dustin was livid. There was a slapfest. Dustin went off to work. Angela and Conrad hung out all day and got a crush. Mary-Sue and the kids came home; she suspects nothing. Dustin gets home and has a huge blowout with Angela, resulting in him divorcing her and moving out. The kids are all in tears. Then, Conrad dropped dead of old age, and Mary-Sue went into aspiration failure.

Whew, I'm exhausted.

When you adopt a baby (not a toddler or a child), I know they will get their genetics from two townie "parents." Who does the game include when randomizing this? Is it possible that downtownies could be the parents? What about dormies?

My megahood started with only two townies: Abhijeet Cho and Crystal Vu, from Strangetown. The other hoods were empty of all townies. But I have adopted several babies, and none of them have blond hair or fair skin like Abhijeet and Crystal. So I was wondering where the game was getting their genetics.

Example of adopted baby from my megahood: Caleb Summerdream, adopted at the very beginning of play by Titania. Clearly, this is not Abhijeet and Crystal's baby. I had already added universities and downtown when he was adopted, but I don't remember if dormies had been generated yet. (My universities are empty of dormies. My game doesn't generate them until I actually play university.)
