PTE Academic — My Experience & Why You Shouldn't Stress About Platform Choice (Apeuni)

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting on Reddit, but I really wanted to share my experience since I know a lot of people struggle with figuring out which platform to use for PTE prep. Hopefully this helps someone feel more confident going into their exam.

My prep timeline (1 month total):

  • Weeks 1-2: Focused entirely on Speaking, since that was my weakest area. I followed Nakul's YouTube videos for guidance and practiced daily.
  • Weeks 3-4: Shifted focus to Writing, Reading, and Listening. I did sectional mock tests for all sections but never attempted a full-length mock test.

Platform: I used Apeuni throughout, and honestly — don't overthink this decision. It's a solid platform and served me well.

Important note on mock scores: My Speaking sectional mocks kept showing around 79, and I was genuinely worried about it. But don't let that discourage you — on the actual exam, I scored much higher. Mock scores (especially for Speaking) don't always reflect your real exam performance, so don't panic if you see similar numbers.

My actual result:

  • Listening: 87
  • Reading: 79
  • Speaking: 89
  • Writing: 90
  • Overall: 90

My biggest takeaways: stop stressing over which platform to pick, trust the process, and follow good guidance (Nakul's videos helped me a lot with Speaking specifically).

If anyone has questions about my prep, timeline, or anything else — drop a comment, I'm happy to help however I can!
