I had 2 days to prep for this and I chose PTE Academic — this was my first time doing the exam and I was so nervous. I messed up in the Reading section due to poor time management 😔

Hi! Should I opt for a rescore or retake since I need 76 for speaking? Thank you for your help!
Hi!
I did my PTE exam and i am wondering specifically about my speaking scores. Because I speak really fluent and in my usually life I have not issues to communicate with other. (expect my wife :-) )
Had someone a idea?
Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting on Reddit, but I really wanted to share my experience since I know a lot of people struggle with figuring out which platform to use for PTE prep. Hopefully this helps someone feel more confident going into their exam.
My prep timeline (1 month total):
Platform: I used Apeuni throughout, and honestly — don't overthink this decision. It's a solid platform and served me well.
Important note on mock scores: My Speaking sectional mocks kept showing around 79, and I was genuinely worried about it. But don't let that discourage you — on the actual exam, I scored much higher. Mock scores (especially for Speaking) don't always reflect your real exam performance, so don't panic if you see similar numbers.
My actual result:
My biggest takeaways: stop stressing over which platform to pick, trust the process, and follow good guidance (Nakul's videos helped me a lot with Speaking specifically).
If anyone has questions about my prep, timeline, or anything else — drop a comment, I'm happy to help however I can!
I’m sorry about the title but it is true, I am GENUINELY scared and I don’t know what to expect, I’ve looked up millions of tips on the internet I’ve also watched every YouTube video I can find about taking the PTE exam and I’ve also taken multiple mock exams😭🙏. Please help a friend out and tell me your experience in taking one, I have SOOOOOOO many questions like “WAS IT HARD FOR YOU?”, “DID YOU NEED TO ENROLL YOURSELF TO A COACH?”
how long does it usually take for the results to come out, i took mine
today, July 5 9AM
Genuinely worried for my actual PTE score. I've been getting high scores in mock tests. Here are my records upon taking the Official Pearson Mock Tests:
Scored Practice Version 1:
S - 79, W - 73, R - 71, L - 90, Overall: 87
Scored Practice Version 2:
S - 90, W - 76, R - 74, L - 90, Overall: 90
Now I'm worried about my real exam. Couldn't be confident about it as I wasn't able to manage my time and just had to random guess the last two full questions of FIB Drag and Drop in Reading.
What are my chances of still getting a superior score? Or is it even possible to atleast get a minimum of 70 even for Reading? I tried my best with the other items too and other areas and took my time well.
Hi everyone,
I'm from Gujarat, India, and I'll be joining EPITA (École Pour l'Informatique et les Techniques Avancées) at their Kremlin-Bicêtre campus (14-16 Rue Voltaire, 94270 Le Kremlin-Bicêtre) later this year.
I'm looking for student accommodation near the campus and wanted to get advice from people who know Paris well or have been through this.
A bit about me:
International student from India, moving to France Looking for a safe, budget-friendly place — ideally a studio or shared flat Open to CROUS housing, private student residences, or house-sharing (colocation) Also open to sharing accommodation/flatmate arrangements with other students near the campus Prefer something within easy metro/RER/bus distance of Kremlin-Bicêtre (Line 7 metro area) What I'd love help with:
Neighborhoods near Kremlin-Bicêtre / Villejuif / Ivry / Gentilly that are good for students (safe, well-connected, not too expensive) Realistic monthly rent range for a studio/1-room or shared flat near there Reliable platforms or agencies for booking before arrival (CROUS, Studapart, Nexity, La Carte des Colocs, etc.)
Whether it's better to book before arriving in France or search in person after landing
Any tips specific to Indian students — visa/CAF (housing aid) paperwork, guarantor requirements (Visale), etc.
If anyone is also looking for a flatmate near EPITA Kremlin-Bicêtre, feel free to reach out — happy to share accommodation and split costs.
Really appreciate any leads, personal experiences, or things I should watch out for (scams, deposits, agency fees). Thanks in advance!
I had given my exam but i have received these scores , am unable to achieve superior scores needed for PR , pls help out how can i achieve the desired scores
Hi, I've experiences glitches during my exam, but they didn't gave me a voucher. It's so unfair. Im 100% sure that I've encoutered twice.
I got superior!!! wow I can finally breathe again
It took 6 weeks of practice bc I have a 9-5 and could only study either at 7am before I had work or after work for 1-2 hours a day before my brain was too fried.
After taking the mock exam I realised my weaknesses were SPEAKING and WRITING so I only focused on those tasks -
My templates that I used during the exam and to study:
KEY - [x] means to fill in your topic / opinion
Describe Image -
This image showcases x about x
The highest figure is x at around x
While the lowest figure is x at around x
Additionally, both categories show a stable/increase/decrease in trend
Overall, this image highlights the x and y

She explained X
X contributed to X and X
In addition, she mentioned X

The others suggested xx
Another concern was xx
In response, they recommended xx

Respond to situation

I would love your suggestion
Thank you for understanding!

Intro: It is often argued that [x]. While some people believe [x], I believe in [y].
Paragraph 1: Supporters claim [y]. For example, [z]. Therefore, [z].
Paragraph 2: On the other hand OR In addition, some people may suggest [x]. For instance, [x]. As a result, [x].
Conclusion: In conclusion, some people will argue [x]. Although critics believe this, I believe [x] and [y] because [x].
YOU CAN DO IT I PROMISE IT SUCKS BUT YOU GOT IT!!
All my mock exams and practice made it seem like I was going to do really bad, even after the exam I had collapsed so much during repeat sentence and the rest of the speaking but as long as you keep a confident and steady voice, it will work out!!
I also found the real exam was so much easier than APE Uni's mocks and the official pearsons mocks.
I applied for a rescore and received an email stating that my rescore is completed, and I can view the updated score on the portal.
But on the portal it is showing that your score report is not available at this time.
Has anyone faced this issue? And how long does it takes to reflect?
Hi! I took the PTE Academic test for the first time last June 30 and received the results yesterday, July 2.
I studied (inconsistently) for 10 days and mainly used Alfa PTE to practice (10-day premium). I also watched videos from Skills PTE Academic by Nakul.
What I did first was familiarize myself with all the parts and format of the test and took a full mock test in Alfa PTE just to assess my current skills.
My initial scores in the mock test:
Speaking - 65
Writing - 48
Reading - 55
Listening - 61
After that, I practiced per part and took sectional mock tests (1 test per section) three days before the exam. I still got low scores and just relied on the feedback given by the app until the exam day, so don’t be discouraged by your mock test scores. Just keep practicing and you’ll be just fine. :)
Sectional mock test scores:
Speaking - 76
Writing - 70
Reading - 68
Listening - 78
Speaking
I tried speaking a little faster but with clear pronunciation, no pauses for more than two seconds, and in monotone or no intonation
DI: I fumbled a lot during practice and did worse during the real exam, but I just kept reading the words or describing what’s in the image even though my sentences weren’t making any sense anymore. I used this structure for graphs/charts:
“The image provides information about (title).
The x-axis talks about…, while the y-axis shows…
It is clear that the highest value is…
Meanwhile, the lowest value is…
Overall, the image describes (title).”
SGD: I wrote atleast 3 to 5 exact phrases from each speaker and just read what I wrote while connecting them.
“The three students / speakers discussed the (main topic).
Speaker 1 mentioned that …
Meanwhile, speaker 2 stated that …
On the other hand, speaker 3 said that …
Overall, they discussed about the (main topic)”
RS: I just tried responding like how I would do in real life and used the words in the written situation. I start with a greeting and end with “thank you.”
Writing
SWT: I copied three sentences exactly and just added connectors. That’s it. Make sure you won’t exceed 75 words. Mine was exactly 75.
“(First sentence of Par1), and (sentence from Par2); moreover, (sentence from Par3).”
WE: Just make sure that you understand what they’re asking for and you have to think and type fast. Use different sentence structures. I used the last three minutes to check for grammar, punctuations, and spelling.
Par1: Intro
Par2: Argument + example
Par3: Counterargument + example
Par4: Conclusion
Reading
Read more about collocations and widen your vocabulary. You will get hints in the texts. You will see the timer and number of items on the screen so make sure you don’t spend a lot of time per question and allot atleast 1-2mins per remaining item.
RO: The first one is always a standalone sentence.
Listening
SST: Write within 50-70 words. I wrote three sentences.
“The discussion revolved around (topic).
The speaker mentioned the advantages such as …
The disadvantages discussed were…”
MCMA: Take notes (places, time, etc) while understanding the passage and choose the best options or just tick one / two if you’re not really sure to avoid negative marking.
HIW: Just follow the text while listening and you’ll be fine.
WFD: I type fast while I listen and fix the spelling and punctuation afterwards. First letter should be capitalized and sentence should end with a period.
If you have any questions, just ask away! More than happy to help. ☺️
After 7 attempts, I finally achieved Superior in PTE! 🎉
My biggest challenge was always Speaking. Due to my voice pitch, the AI scoring system consistently gave me low Speaking scores, but every time I applied for human rescoring, my Speaking jumped to 90.
Unfortunately, rescoring also reduced my Writing score almost every single time.
My journey:
Attempt 1
Before: L90 R81 S50 W88
After: L90 R75 S90 W77
Attempt 2
Before: L85 R76 S79 W86
After: L87 R69 S90 W67
Attempt 3
Before: L90 R89 S83 W90
After: L90 R80 S90 W77
Attempt 4
Before: L90 R84 S76 W87
After: L90 R78 S90 W74
Attempt 5
Before: L90 R76 S77 W89
After: L89 R71 S90 W76
Attempt 6
Before: L90 R76 S90 W81
After: L90 R75 S86 W61
By this point, I was mentally exhausted and honestly starting to lose hope.
Attempt 7 (The Miracle!)
Before: L90 R79 S85 W69
After: L90 R74 S90 W90 ✅
I know many people say to trust the AI scoring, but my experience was completely different. Human rescoring consistently recognized my Speaking as 90, while the software seemed to struggle because of my pitch. I just needed one attempt where Writing also went my way
Received my initial PTE result on June 27, 2026 and honestly felt a bit sad because I missed the scores I needed for Superior English.
After seeking advice, I decided to apply for a rescore on June 29, 2026 and hoped for the best.
Today, July 2, 2026, my rescored result came back, and I finally achieved Superior English. 🥹
A reminder to trust the process and not lose hope too soon. Sometimes, the result you’re praying for is just around the corner. 🙏✨
