How do I talk to a therapist?

For context I have finally pushed myself to seek therapy in college after various mood swings and other mental health issues during my midterms, but now due to that, I'm confused on how I would talk to my therapist. My family has always been persistent on not receiving therapy so now I'm lost on how to go about this since I have such a weird image (my family basically pushed it on me) of therapists as people who will report your every move and won't help. So now I'm completely lost on how the first conversation is gonna go and if I'll sound weird.

Tsilkukunits

To students who have dormed at Tsilkukunits (Building D), how was it? I'm particularly worried about how hot and noisy it gets on the 4th floor facing the street, how annoying the L shaped rooms were, and the distance from any classes. Honestly, anything helps. Thanks!

CORE Move-In

Hey! Has anybody on here moved in for the CORE Program in the past? If so, how was move-in? Were there a lot of people? Did any of your roommates show up to move in at the same time? How did that go?

Freshman Schedule

Hey everyone. I just wanted to ask what you all thought of in regards to my civil engineering freshman schedule. I can't tell if this is good or bad schedule. I genuinely need comments from other Cal Poly students. Thanks!

Sharing a Triple Room

Hello everyone, I'd simply like to ask how you all got over your awkwardness in sharing a triple, especially with two people who have known eachother since highschool and have somehow agreed on everything for the room and didn't even attempt to ask you about it. I find this situation unfair since I got left with their last options and also my roommates don't really make an effort to text me, its usually one speaking for the other and its a bit strange. I also move in earlier if that means anything so I'm hoping to make do with this situation without causing too much trouble. Any advice on getting over the awkwardness? Or do i just suck it up cause I'm okay with that if its the option, I just don't know how to feel

How to avoid starving tips

As an incoming freshman afraid of starving to death due to everyone saying the Cal Poly food is mediocre to horrible, what are ways you guys found to avoid starving? I'm genuinely saying this as someone who is willing to go buy groceries and learn to cook to avoid it.

EDIT: thank you guys, you're all amazing. 🫶

Swapping Rooms

People in Yakitutu Triple Housing, are you considering switching from one triple to another? I'm genuinely in need of swapping solely due to a bodily condition that causes me to get sick consistently, throwing up, and honestly I need to find a room in front of the bathroom if possible. My current one is near the end of the hall and I'm afraid of throwing up in front of my roommates so if theres any chance, please do lmk 🫠

Yakitutu Triple

Hey guys! Are there specific times when the Housing Selection Swap is most active? I've been on and frequently looking since 9 and all I need is a Yakitutu Triple, preferably in Tilhini for Scholars but have found nothing 😭

Meal Plan Questions

As a prospective engineering (if that matters) student going to Cal Poly, I really want to know:

What is the best meal plan for someone who enjoys eating 2-3 meals a day, usually buys a snack (typical boba drink or sweet) after, and still wants to stay healthy? Is the food genuinely worth the cost? I'm not a picky eater and can literally eat bland or repetitive food if I need to. I'd also like to know how picking different meal plans affected you all whether negatively or positively.
