If you go Modest, which is realistic with Tailwind support, your effective base Special Attack stat is 219 when using Fire type moves. Run the calcs if you don’t believe me. A Whimsicott supporting the lion with Tailwind and Sunny Day (only two moves necessary for support is not even close to too much) will make this mega scary to up against. I believe that Mega Pyroar has a higher ceiling than Mega Staraptor. Call me crazy, I don’t care. Staraptor needs, at the very least, one support mon with 100% of its moveset dedicated to supporting it.

Now don’t get me wrong, it won’t be Charizard level at all. I’m not saying that. Zard is WAY more practical and reliable. Pyroar has a chance though. I think it will be a genuine meta threat that you can’t brush off.

3. Tsareena
4. Maus, Sini, Vivillon
5. A partner Faking Out
6. ➡️ Screens!!! ⬅️
7. Strong Close Combat users (for Kingambit specifically)
8. Sleep Powder or Spore (if a Spore user is added)
9. Simply the fucking move Protect while dealing with the mon that threatens Raichu with a teammate

There are definitely more things I can list to maneuver around a physically frail mega. I cannot stand people who don’t play or have only started playing VGC in April of this year giving a mon a death sentence because it is physically frail. Flutter Mane exists (I’m not saying they’re 1:1 or that Yaichu will even be as good as it. They just have similar phys bulk) and Flutter Mane is highly successful. Guess why? YOU CAN SUCCESSFULLY SUPPORT A GLASS CANNON!

If a 160 SpA, 130 Spe, and 120 BP Thunder Wave doesn’t have a place, I will eat my shoes. I promise. I apologize for ranting, I didn’t know where else to put these thoughts.
