[Handmade] Trying to fix the "bulky" Bund strap problem. Modified a narrower pad with an integrated loop insert.

I love the vintage look of a classic Bund strap, but I always hated how bulky and wide they feel on the wrist. They usually overwhelm the watch head completely.
I spent some time at the bench redesigning the pattern to fix this.
The Modifications:
Sleeker Profile: I cut the Bund pad much narrower than a traditional template. It perfectly traces the silhouette of the watch case rather than bleeding past it.

The "Insert" Channel: Instead of the watch just sitting loosely on top of the leather, the strap inserts through tailored slots on the pad. It locks everything down and gives it a highly integrated, seamless look from the side.

Paired it here with a vintage-style Submariner case that I hand-aged myself in my workshop. The clean black leather and white contrast stitching really frame the distressed metal well.
How do we feel about slimmed-down Bunds? Does this make the style more wearable for daily use, or do you prefer the classic wide look?

I love the MoonSwatch aesthetic, but I always felt the stock strap didn't do the "Speedmaster" heritage justice. It felt a bit too much like a toy on the wrist.

I spent the last week in my workshop crafting this Black Textured Rally Bund. My goal was to create something that matched the Bioceramic case while adding the rugged, premium feel of a pilot's chronograph.

Why this setup works:

Texture: The pebble-grain black leather grounds the matte finish of the watch.

The "Bund" Pad: It gives the watch a much-needed "heavier" wrist presence without adding actual weight.

Hand-Stitched Detail: Used a grey-ivory contrast thread to pull out the colors of the tachymeter scale.

I’ve tried dozens of one piece watch band and rubbers, but this is the first time the watch actually feels "complete" to me.

What do you guys think? Does the Bund style work for the MoonSwatch, or do you prefer the classic look?

Sharing a quick look at my latest workshop project. Finding a premium leather strap for the MoonSwatch that actually matches the unique white of the Mars case was a challenge.

I hand-stitched this single-piece Bund to provide better wrist presence. The goal was to bridge the gap between the sporty MoonSwatch look and high-end leathercraft.

Build Details:

Leather: Full-grain textured white hide.

Stitching: Contrast linen thread (hand-saddle stitched).

Hardware: Polished stainless steel to match the dial hands.

Would love your feedback on the fitment! If you're looking for strap ideas for the Mars, feel free to ask about the leather I used.

I’ve always felt that a Panerai Luminor Marina deserves a strap with just as much presence as the watch itself. For this build, I wanted to go beyond standard leather and create something with a bit more soul.

The Details:

The Leather: Hand-tooled floral pattern with a deep, vintage sun-burst patina.

The Hardware: I managed to find a matching engraved buckle that mirrors the organic flow of the leather tooling.

The Vibe: It’s rugged, but the level of detail gives it a luxury "Western" feel that really makes the sandwich dial of the Panerai pop.

What do you guys think? Is this too much detail for a daily driver, or does the Panerai case call for this much character?

After a few busy weeks in the workshop, I finally finished this commission. The goal was to create a Bund strap that didn't just support the watch, but told a story about the machinery inside.

The Highlight: The Brogue Pad Most brogue patterns are simple lines. For this build, I designed a set of interlocking "gears" hand-punched directly into the pad. Each hole is positioned by hand—one slight slip and the entire piece of leather is ruined. It’s a high-stakes way to work, but the texture it adds is incomparable.

The Construction:

Stitching: High-visibility red contrast saddle-stitching. Every stitch is pulled to the same tension to ensure the strap never stretches or loses its shape.

The Leather: Premium black hide that provides a sharp contrast to the red accents.

The Fit: Shown here on a Rolex Submariner. The pad is tailored to the case size so it stays secure without being overly bulky.

I really wanted this piece to showcase the "hand" in handmade. In a world of laser-cut accessories, there’s a soul in hand-punched patterns that a machine can't replicate.

I’d love to hear from other makers—what’s the most complex pattern you’ve ever punched into a single piece of leather?
