Something I've noticed about stimulants
I was too young to remember properly, but apparently my tics started up when I went on ADHD meds back when I was only five or six. They never really went away and got worse when I was anxious.
I'm still waiting to get back onto ADHD meds, I haven't been on them for a long time, so I dont know how they'll affect me now, but I have noticed that other stimulants like coke makes my tics much worse.
For example, even though I'm comfortable and in a setting my tics would usually be calm and unnoticeable, i would tick anyway after doing some, and they would be brutal tick attacks that ended with me getting a killer headache, and I woke up the next morning with full body aches from the intensity of the ticks, but coke doesnt hype me up like most people, it makes me sleepy and slow, so I don't see how it's stimulating my tics but not stimulating that hyper "get up and go" energy that people seem to get on it.
The severity of the tic attacks make me really nervous to get back on adhd medication, but I am finally in the process of maybe getting some type of medication or something for my tics from my doctor so we'll see how thats gonna go.
But yeah. Just something I've noticed, at least, has any research been done on this type of thing? I'd assume so but I wouldn't even know what to write in the search bar for it. And I'd love to know the Why's and stuff, but you'll have to ELI5 because that stuff confuses me.
