MEL - HKG - YVR

Hello lovely people,

Need to fly to Vancouver from Melbourne as I am moving to Canada. Cathay looks like the best option in terms of pricing and the fact that I am a oneworld sapphire member. Layovers are in Hong Kong and vary in time.

I have a few options in terms of layovers, and am leaning towards the longer layover to have a more easeful trip. Any suggestions or additional information is appreciated.

  1. layover of 1 hour only (I feel like I won’t even have time to enjoy the amenities of the lounge after a 9 hour flight before rushing to board another 12 hour flight)

  2. Layover of four hours (happy for people to weigh in on this one; I have no opinion currently)

  3. Layover of approx 19 hours (decent time to rest, maybe sightsee and enjoy the city - however I am carrying 6 months worth of my ADHD medications so does any know if it will be hard to pass immigration, should I get a permit for my medicine etc).

Are there any hotels that are particularly lovely?

Hi everyone, advice appreciated -

I’ve booked flights SYD-TOKYO and then TOKYO-YVR with Japan Airlines and did so via booking.com

I made an error and my title on the booking is now ‘Mr.’ instead of ‘Ms’.

Booking.com are palming it off to JAL and JAL say they cannot help me because I’ve made the booking third party. I found JAL helpful but booking.com not so much. I’ve heard bad things about ‘go to gate’ which are the staff managing these helplines ‘on behalf of’ booking.com.

I’ve lodged a complaint/support request with booking.com to contact JAL directly and waiting for this to be followed. Any advice or tips?
