Tiny copper-colored metal tube with knurling on one side found in clothes washing machine. WITT?

I found this after removing a load of clothes from the washing machine this morning. I have excluded it being any part of a pen or pencil. I just cannot figure it out. Thanks in advance for your help. It feels important. It measures a little over an inch long and about 2mm wide at the outer diameter. The interior is 1mm wide. There is a knurled line texture down one side and the rest is smooth.

I love this bag. Help finding another?

I love this bag. It is not sashiko, but I have found many similar bags that are embellished with sashiko. I'm fairly certain it is Japanese. I found it years ago in a little shop in San Francisco (I don't' remember where). It has lasted so well that it looks the same as when I originally acquired it. I seems that it is made of boro boro fabrics as well as a few pieces of ikat, etc. Would anyone here be able to help me understand this bag? What is it called in Japan? How old do the fabrics look? I would appreciate any information that you could provide. Thank you in advance.

Who made these BIFL bags?

I’m hoping to get some help identifying the maker of these two incredible bags, which I found ten years apart at secondhand shops here in Billings, Montana.

I bought the red one first and used it to haul heavy tools all over the country for ten years while traveling for work. Just last week, I stumbled across the blue one. The quality and simplicity of these bags are absolutely amazing—they simply do not die. They are lightweight, highly packable, and fold down to a very small footprint, yet they are made from extremely durable materials and stitched with incredibly high-quality thread.

A few key details:

  • Dimensions: Approximately 12" long x 10" tall x 10" deep.
  • Layout: Each bag features sewn-in open organizer pockets on the sides of the interior of each zippered section with a completely open middle section for easy access.
  • Hardware: They feature heavy-duty YKK zippers.
  • Makers Ruled Out: I checked with Red Oxx Manufacturing here in Billings, and they confirmed these are not their work. They are similar to but not made by Tom Bihn.
  • They seem to date to the 1990's or early 2000's (based on random items found in the blue one - someone's Toyota car keys (I returned to the thrift store), cough drops, and a little package of supplements).

I just hand-washed both bags, so they are currently hanging to air-dry. So I didn't post photos of the interior layouts.

One of the few Noodler's inks I LOVE! Roses in the Louvre <3

I am not a fan of 95% of the Noodler's inks I've tried. Most are unsaturated colors which behave very badly on all paper, in my experience. However, there are a handful of Noodler's inks which are fantastic. My top three are this Roses In the Louvre, Black Swan in Australian Roses, and Kuprin. I have not found another deep red-pink that I like better than Roses in the Louvre. It even has some subtle shading.

Why does Platinum not sell this?

Platinum 3776 pen bodies are often garbage, but the nibs are great. Procyon nibs are blah but the pens are great. Since many of us are doing this Procyon/3776 Frankenpen thing anyway, I wonder why they don't sell it this way? The Procyon is super comfortable and airtight (writes on the first stroke even after stored inked and unused for months), with a high quality sturdy body. With a plethora of cracking issues to many of the plastics used in the 3776, it would make sense to me that Platinum should just settle it by selling a pen like this. Just my unsolicited opinion.

Ever Feel Nostalgia for People, Times and Places From Before You Were Born?

I found these wonderful photos at an estate sale yesterday. I'm always stunned when I see things like this tossed away with no one interested in preserving them. There were boxes of framed family photos and dozens of stacks of photos. It makes me sad in a way.
