Ominous Cape

Ominous Cape

Was just playing Minecraft Dungeons and was looking at the capes in the cosmetics section of the inventory.

Why is it called the Ominous Cape, and not something obvious like, the Soul Cape or the Spirit Cape?

I'm wondering if this was an hint for Minecraft Dungeons 2.

Something "Ominous" is coming to the overworld, like the Soul Sickness, or Soul infected mobs.

Thoughts?

My Observations

Some of my observations about random things I've noticed in Minecraft.

This is all mostly from Minecraft, MCD1 and the MCD2 trailer. I haven't played Legends enough to know much about it.

Monstrosities:

MCD1:

Redstone, the strongest war machine in the Arch Illager's army

Obsidian, the unfinished war machine seen in Obsidian Pinnacle, and a boss in the Arcade version. Probably far more dangerous than the Redstone Monstrosity.

Mushroom, appears to be an infected Redstone Monstrosity, not sure how it got on the island.(Are the Mooshrooms stronger than the Illager forces?)

MCD2 Trailer:

Copper, a copper or gold monstrosity is seen shooting lightning.

Redstone, another monstrosity from the new trailer.

(These ones seem slightly smaller than the previous war machines.)

All the Monstrosities share similar designs, same body shapes and characteristics (one exception is the Obsidian Monstrosity, which has 4 eyes instead of 3). I'm wondering if the monstrosities are based off a mob or monster from Minecraft mythology, or an extinct mob (like the Sniffer). Another idea is that they are based off the Vengeful Heart of Ender, maybe the Orb was providing instructions for the creation of the war machines. Or maybe the Orb was meant to inhabit the Obsidian Monstrosity once it was finished.

More Random things:

The Desert Temple entrance in vanilla looks like a soul face. (vaguely)

An Eye of Ender and a Heart of the Sea when opened, look extremely similar apart from the colours. Why are they so similar?

The Jungle Abomination and the Heart of Ender share a similar head shape, which I guess makes sense, since they are both from the Orb of Dominance.

The "Caretaker" seems to have wind swirls similar to the chiseled Tuff block.

The only way for Piglins to have Iron, Diamonds and Obsidian in the Nether is if they brought them back from the Overworld, during legends, or after.

Are witches half villager and illager? Or are they paler because they are old and sickly?

Where are the Villagers getting all these emeralds?

Action's face looks very similar to the Ancient City portal frame.

I think Endermen are like clams and Ender Pearls are condensed teleportation particles that get trapped in their mouths.

Yeah...

This is some of my Fan Lore.

Disc 5

I've always been curious about what is happening inside the audio of Disc 5. Much more interested than I am with any of the other strange ones, like 11 or 13.

I just want to hear what other people think is happening in it.

I'll add what I think is happening below.

0:01-0:09 - Static, then what sounds like a nether portal, maybe passing through one.

0:12 - Flint and Steel! And a Bat.

0:15-0:27 - Footsteps on Deepslate or Tuff. Which transitions into marching footsteps, wearing metal armour. Also seems to be a short horn blast. (Illagers?)

^ I originally thought these were Piglins, because some of the marching sounded link Piglin's grunting at the beginning, but as the sound continues to sharpen, you realize it just sounds like armour plates.

0:29-0:31 - Torches flicker and some breathing.

0:37 - An Endersent idle SFX, which warps and cuts to calming but also eerie piano music.

1:01 - Music warps away, replaced by static.

1:06 - Lava bubbling.

1:09 - Amethyst block is placed, a charging up or whooshing sound can be heard becoming a crackling boom far in the distance, as well as another Endersent SFX, and an

1:12/13 - Endersent SFX, and an Endermite SFX.

1:15 - Creature screeching faintly.

1:18 Metal tinkle, *cough* *cough*

1:21 - Pickaxes or some metal tools can be heard in the background. Also a very very faint tune can be heard, it’s very short, but I think it could be one of the many Minecraft soundtrack songs. Which could be a hint for something.

1:27 - More Deepslate or Tuff footsteps, quick succession.

^ I thought this was sprinting, which didn’t make sense to me. It kind of sounds like they are running up some Deepslate stairs. This could be steps to the portal frame, since afterwards you can hear soul sand or soil be stepped on or placed down.

1:30 - I’m very confused by all the extra sounds like wind or portal warping sounds, it’s probably from the disc being put back together after being broken.

1:36 - Small whine that fades away, boom, whirring whine comes back, multiple booms.

1:50/51 - A very very quiet Enderman SFX can be heard under the whine, static, and booms. Also some of the static sounds similar to the static when close to Endermen in MCD1.

1:53 - A whirring or powering up sound, more soul sand (or it could just be sand).

1:59 - some sort of grinding stone or snorting sound.

2:00 - something metal creaking and what reminds me of an elevator shaft. Pulsing/powering up sound becomes louder, before stopping with the sound of fire being ignited (soul fire?).

2:06 - Fire burning.

2:07 - A sharp sound I can only describe as a bright flash.

2:08/09Somethings lands and rocks scattering, and dust blowing, some sort of roar, what sounds like an Allay or Vex, along with souls moving around.

2:16 - Quiet breathing.

2:18 - More souls?

2:20Footsteps on Deepslate, some breathing, a strange continuous ringing can be heard I don’t know if that’s just for dramatic effect, or if it’s actually something.

2:25 - Stone and gravel being stepped on.

2:28 Warden receiving vibrations, a Warden's roar before static and warping take over, finishing with some crackles.

2:59 - Disc 5 ends.

How accurate does this sound? I've heard some other ideas about what is happening, but none of them seemed to make a lot of sense. Like the Wither being the source of the booms in the background, or no mentions of the Endersent SFX.

But I want to hear your theories...

The Overworld, the Nether, and the End Between

Minecraft has 3 dimensions...

...possibly a fourth on the way (ooo!)

I was thinking about the dimensions and wondering how they are supposed to connect to each other.

Dimensions

The Overworld is an Earth-like dimension, mostly containing passive mobs, but also hostile ones. The terrain varies with forests, fields, mountains, oceans, lakes, rivers, deserts, snow, and much more.

The Nether was a wasteland but has since become a bit more forgiving, with a small handful of biomes.

Both of these dimensions contain at least one layer of bedrock.

My Theory

The Nether and the Overworld are separate planes, not just Nether under Overworld, however I think the End is a middle plane, or like a liminal space, past the bedrock layers. If you where to cut a hole in space and time, you would be in the End, or the Void of the End. I think the Void would transport you to the End, as some sort of liminal

"Endermen seek to bring about the collapse of all dimensions." This is from Jeb's book I think.

In Minecraft Dungeons, when searching for the eyes of Ender, the Endersent guarding them can be found close to the bedrock layer, with what appear to be liquid void blocks leaking through cracks in the Bedrock floor. Endersent seem to have bodies built for digging and destroying blocks with their large hammer like arms, and their powerful slam attacks. I wonder if they are trying to break through the Bedrock Layer's to allow direct access between the End and Overworld.

I might revise this and make a longer more detailed one, but I want to hear people's thoughts before I make it.

Has anyone heard a theory like this?

Also is this more of a Fan Lore, instead of a Theory? I want to use the correct words.
