This is Fishlegs, an eastern. Sometimes, when she's getting settled down and comfortable, she takes some big breaths and puffs right up. I only caught the end of it on video. She's on a heat mat which is under multiple cloth layers to dilute the heat.

The first time this happened I was worried about an RI, but she didn't have any symptoms. She doesn't leave her mouth open, froth, or have crackles. It's not a persisten thing, just a few breaths, puffing up, some wiggling, and settled. Not lethargic, behaving normal. It's happened multiple times on different occasions. If I pick her up, she simply deflates, seems fine except a mild huff of discontent.

Does anyone have any idea what she's doing here? Anyone elses skink do this, is this normal behavior? Some kind of vertical splooting?

My name's Ben, I'm a very experienced DM of 15+ years across DnD 4e, 5e, and now 5.5e. I run my games in a detailed homebrew world I've developed over the years. I've run this group through a campaign already, but I had to change our scheduled day for the sake of my sleep and as a result we lost one of our players. So I'm looking for another player for this new campaign.

Campaign Primer: "Welcome, prisoner, to the Nashir Diocese. I won't ask why you've been arrested by the Sultanate, I don't care. You were transferred to my prison because you were deemed labor worthy. I hope you are prepared to work under the desert sun. Our holy Vycerian dunes may look beautiful, with their hued sands, but they are deadly as well. If the magical beasts and elementals don't kill you, perhaps you'll lose your mind to the Mirage. Don't ask what that means, it's better you don't worry about it. I know what you're thinking, but there's no sense in escaping. The dunes will kill you, the salt flats will run you dry, the blighted lands will tear you to shreds, and the city of Nashir is swarming with guards. Work hard, don't complain, and in time you will be released. If you survive."

In this campaign, you will begin as prisoners, and soon realize that you must find a way to escape. The prison isn't your only barrier, as the whole region is surrounded by natural barriers and hostile creatures. In your struggle to elude and survive, you may begin to uncover troublesome secrets, and be offered the choice of whether to cut loose and save yourself, or try to uproot the powers that have wronged you so.
