UC halls
Hey everyone,
I'm currently in Year 13 and planning to start my first year at UC next year, doing Engineering. I'm trying to lock in which hall to go for. Right now I'm leaning towards Tupuānuku, Tupuarangi, or Arcady, but I'd love to hear from people who've actually lived in these (or other halls) before I commit.
A bit about me: I'm not super social, but I do enjoy having fun and going to the odd party - I just don't want it to be full-on or constant. I'm also not the type to lock myself in my room and study 24/7 either. I'm hoping for something with a good balance: enough of a social scene to make friends and have a good time, but also an environment where I can actually focus and study when I need to.
Some things I'd love input on:
- What's the vibe like at Tupuānuku vs Tupuarangi vs Arcady?
- Which one strikes a good balance between social and chill/studious?
- Anything specific engineering students should consider (workload, quiet spaces, proximity to campus, etc.)?
- Any halls I haven't mentioned that you think would suit someone like me better?
Really just want a solid first year experience without feeling overwhelmed either way. Any advice, personal experiences, or things you wish you knew before choosing would be super appreciated!
