Indian Christians Must Organise Online to Respond to Hindutva Narratives
Indian Christians make up around 2–3% of India’s population, yet our online presence is disproportionately small. As a result, discussions about Christianity and Christians in India are often dominated by others, including Hindutva aligned voices, while relatively few Indian Christians actively participate in shaping the conversation.
I believe it’s time for us to become more organized online.
By “organized,” I don’t mean trolling, harassment, or spreading misinformation. I mean building a strong network of volunteers who can:
- Create high quality educational content about Christianity and the history of Christians in India.
- Highlight the contributions of Indian Christians in education, healthcare, science, public service, and social work.
- Respond to misinformation with evidence, reliable sources, and respectful dialogue.
- Support Christian content creators, writers, researchers, lawyers, and educators by amplifying their work.
- Encourage more young Indian Christians to participate in public discussions instead of remaining silent.
Many movements have developed a strong digital presence by consistently producing content and engaging with the public. I believe Indian Christians should also invest in developing these skills and building a constructive, evidence based online presence.
This is not a call to attack or abuse anyone. It’s a call for Indian Christians to become better informed, more engaged, and more visible online while representing our community with integrity and respect.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. What practical steps can we take to build such a network?
