V3.15.6 Beta Now Live — Viwoods Cloud is here + an important note on account binding

Hey everyone,

V3.15.6 Beta is rolling out now, and with it, Viwoods Cloud is officially live. This is the update many of you have been waiting for — cross-device sync for your notes, meetings, knowledge base, memos, and daily planning.

Before we get into what's new, we want to address something important that a few beta testers have already flagged.

⚠️ Important: Account-based data isolation & why some files may appear missing

Starting with this version, your device data is now securely tied to the account you're signed in with. This is a fundamental change to how files are stored and organized under the hood. It means:

  • Data from different accounts is strictly separated.
  • If you sign out and sign back in with a different account, you won't see the previous account's files.

If you've updated and some of your files seem missing — especially in Learning — please try this:

  1. Sign out of your account on the device.
  2. Sign back in.
  3. When prompted on the login screen, choose "Migrate Now".

This should restore access to your existing files under the new account-bound structure.

>

What's new in V3.15.6 (the highlights)

  • Viwoods Cloud — automatic sync for Paper, Meeting, Knowledge Base, Memo, and Daily. Toggle sync per app, 10 GB free storage included.
  • Unified Notes Password — Paper and Meeting now share one password, managed under Settings > Security Settings.
  • Paper improvements — duplicate entire notebooks, move pages between notebooks, import PDFs to specific folders.
  • Memo overhaul — multi-page memos, circle-to-To-Do, new backgrounds, list view, and handwriting-recognized filenames.
  • File management — import from local storage or third-party cloud into any Paper folder.
  • Daily To-Do fix — resolved an issue where To-Do content could be lost during export or sync.

Full changelog with all the details is available on our Discord and website.

A sincere thank you

We know beta testing isn't always smooth — and we genuinely appreciate everyone who's jumped in, reported issues, and helped us catch problems before the public release. If you run into anything, please keep the feedback coming. It makes a real difference.

PSA: Solution for Kobo, Notion & other app login issues

Hey everyone,

A few of you have reported problems logging into apps like Kobo and Notion — getting stuck on blank screens or login pages that just won't load. We looked into it, and the culprit is the same in both cases: an outdated version of Android System WebView on the device.

The fix is quick, and you can do it right from the Play Store.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to the Google Play Store and search for Android System WebView.
  2. Update it to the latest version (or install it if it's not already there).
  3. Once installed, open the WebView app from your app drawer.
  4. Tap "Change Provider" and select version 151.0.7922.47 from the list.
  5. Restart the affected app (Kobo, Notion, etc.) — the login page should now load and work normally.

If you run into any trouble or the steps above don't seem to work for you, drop a comment below or reach out to our support team at support@viwoods.com — we'll get you sorted.

Thanks for your patience, and as always, thanks for reporting this stuff so we can fix it. 🙏

The comment that made us think: what should we tackle next?

We've been reading through the threads here, and something stood out to us.

In the last few weeks, we've seen detailed breakdowns of workflow gaps, thoughtful comparisons with other devices, and honest critiques about what's still missing. Not just "add this feature" — but why it matters, how it would work, and what it would unlock.

That kind of feedback doesn't just help us build a better product. It's genuinely energizing for the team.

Here's what we're asking:

If you could pick one workflow — morning planning, meeting-heavy days, deep reading sessions, project organization — and tell us where the friction still is, what would it be? Not just the feature request, but the moment where you thought "this should be smoother."

Drop it below. We'll be reading every reply.

A few prompts if you're not sure where to start:

  • What's one thing that takes too many taps?
  • What's a workflow that works great on another device but not yet on Viwoods?
  • What's a feature you expected to use, but ended up avoiding because of friction?

We're not going to reply with canned responses — if something comes up that we can speak to, we'll be in the comments like always.

And for those who've already shared detailed feedback in other threads — thank you. We've seen it, it's been logged, and it's part of the conversations happening internally. This post is for the next layer: the stuff that might not have made it into a standalone thread yet.

Alright, over to you. ✌️

Something's brewing — a little peek at what's next 👀

Hey everyone,

We've been a bit quieter than usual lately, and there's a reason for that. The team's been heads-down on something that we think a lot of you have been waiting for — and it's almost ready to see the light of day, here's what we can say:

🔮 A certain feature that rhymes with "why sync"

Some of you have been asking about it since day one. Others have told us it's the one thing keeping them from going all-in on Viwoods. We've heard every single one of those comments, and we've been working on it.

What's coming is a cloud service that connects your devices in a way that feels… natural. Automatic where you want it, off where you don't. It covers the apps you use most, and for those who live in their reading workflow, we've thought about that too — progress, annotations, and bookmarks included.

More details soon. For now, just know: it's real, and it's close.

📝 Memo — from quiet corner to center stage

We'll be honest: Memo has been the underdog of our app lineup. It was there, it worked, but it never really felt like it belonged. A lot of you told us exactly that — and we listened.

The upcoming update gives Memo a proper overhaul. We're not going to list every change just yet, but if you've ever thought "Memo could be useful if only it did X" — there's a decent chance X is in this build. It's more capable, more integrated, and frankly, more deserving of a spot on your home screen than it was before.

🤫 And a few more things…

We're also rolling in a batch of improvements across other apps — some of them directly shaped by the feedback you've posted here, in Discord, and in DMs. If you've ever taken the time to write up a suggestion or report a bug, thank you. You're the reason these updates keep getting better.

🚀 Want to be among the first to try it?

When the beta drops, our testers get first access. If you're not in the beta program yet and want in, drop your device SN in the comments or DM us. No promises on exact timing, but you'll be on the list.

We're genuinely excited about this one. Not just because of what it does, but because of what it represents — a version of Viwoods that's shaped by the people who use it every day. That's you.

Stay tuned. We'll have more to share very soon. ✌️

[Community Q&A] Gboard handwriting, auto-shutdown & more

We get a fair number of questions across Discord, DMs, and comment threads that don't always make it into a full post. Figured it'd be worth collecting a few of the recent ones here — chances are if one person asked, someone else is wondering too.

❓ Can I use Gboard handwriting with my stylus on the AiPaper?

Yes — Gboard's handwriting input works with the stylus on both AiPaper and AiPaper Mini. Chinese handwriting supports full-screen input and converts directly to text. For English handwriting, you might notice the "Write in text fields" option doesn't show up — that appears to be a language-specific limitation in Gboard itself, not the device. Either way, we've been optimizing stylus latency with Gboard, so handwriting should feel responsive.

❓ Is there a way to set the device to auto-shutdown after being idle for a while?

Not yet — this is a feature request we've heard from a few users recently. It makes a lot of sense for battery preservation, especially if you don't use your device every day. It's been logged with the team. No timeline to share just yet, but it's on the radar.

❓ Will the C1 Ceramic Stylus scratch or damage my AiPaper screen?

Nope — the C1 is fully compatible with the AiPaper, and the ceramic tip won't damage the screen. Every device goes through durability testing before it ships, and the factory-applied writing film is designed to handle daily use, ceramic nibs included. You don't need an extra screen protector — in fact, adding one might affect the writing feel.

❓ Do PDFs with clickable hyperlinks work on the AiPaper?

Yes, they do. The Learning app supports hyperlinks within PDFs, so interactive tables of contents, cross-reference links, and navigation tabs all work as expected. A few community members have been building linked planners specifically for their AiPaper and using them daily with great results.

Got a question that's been sitting in the back of your mind? Drop it in the comments or just post it in r/viwoods. We'll do another round of these if there's enough to work with. And if you've already asked us something in Discord or DMs recently — thank you, your questions literally shaped this post.

How to Manage Tasks Across Your AiPaper with the TO-DO Overview

If you're using an AiPaper or AiPaper Mini and taking notes across multiple days in the Daily app, you've probably asked yourself: where did I leave that one task from last Tuesday?

The TO-DO Overview, introduced in V3.14.5, is designed to answer exactly that question. It gives you a single, unified view of all your tasks across every day, with simple filtering and view toggles so you can find what you need without endlessly flipping through pages.

Here's how it works.

What the TO-DO Overview actually does

The TO-DO Overview aggregates every to-do item you've created in the Daily app, regardless of which day you created it on. Instead of hunting through individual dates to find an unfinished task, you open one centralized view and see everything in one place.

This is particularly useful if:

  • You use Daily across multiple projects and dates
  • You frequently carry over unfinished tasks from previous days
  • You want a quick pulse check on what's done and what's still pending

Switching between Week View and Month View

Once you're in the TO-DO Overview, you can toggle between two views:

  • Week View — shows tasks for the current week at a glance. Ideal for short-term planning and daily stand-up style reviews.
  • Month View — zooms out to the full calendar month. Better for spotting patterns, tracking long-running tasks, or planning ahead.

You'll find the toggle at the top of the TO-DO Overview screen. Tapping it instantly switches the display — no loading, no lag.

Filtering by All, Finished, or Unfinished

Above your task list, there are three filter tabs:

  • All — displays every task, regardless of status
  • Finished — only shows completed items
  • Unfinished — only shows items you still need to complete

This filtering is session-based, meaning you can quickly flip between views to get the information you need at that moment. Tap "Unfinished" first thing in the morning to focus on what's due. Switch to "All" at the end of the week for a full review.

How tasks show up here

Any to-do created in the Daily app — whether typed or handwritten — appears automatically in the TO-DO Overview. You don't need to tag tasks, assign them to a special folder, or change your writing habits. The system picks them up by default.

If you've been using the batch creation feature (also new in V3.14.5), groups of tasks created in one session will all flow into the Overview together, keeping things clean from the start.

A practical workflow to try

Here's one way users are already integrating the TO-DO Overview into their day:

  1. Morning: open the TO-DO Overview, switch to Unfinished, and quickly scan what's carried over from yesterday.
  2. Throughout the day: add new tasks in Daily as they come up.
  3. End of week: switch to Month View, filter by All, and review what got done vs. what needs to roll forward.

It's a lightweight system that works without needing to learn a new productivity framework. You decide how much structure you want.

Quick recap

  • TO-DO Overview is available in V3.14.5 on AiPaper and AiPaper Mini
  • Switch between Week View and Month View at any time
  • Filter tasks by AllFinished, or Unfinished in one tap
  • Tasks populate automatically — no extra setup required

If you haven't updated yet, check Settings > System Update on your device.

Have a workflow that uses the TO-DO Overview in a creative way?

Drop it in the comments. We're genuinely curious how different people are making this work, and your setup might help someone else find their rhythm. As always, feedback on what you'd like to see next in the Overview is welcome too.

AiPaper Reader V1.5.6 rolling out now — side button customization expands to all buttons, plus more options

V1.5.6 is live for AiPaper Reader and Reader C. If you caught V1.5.5 last week, you already know we unlocked the side button for remapping. This update takes that further.

🔘 All side buttons are now yours to customize

In V1.5.5, you could remap one button. Now, every physical side button on the device can be set independently. No more shared functions — each key does exactly what you want it to.

And the list of assignable actions has grown:

  • Screenshot (one press, saved)
  • Launch any app you choose
  • Disable the button entirely (for the minimalists)
  • …and a few more we’ll let you discover

Same idea, just more of it. Set your buttons once, and the device starts feeling truly yours.

What else is new?

This update is focused almost entirely on button customization and usability. Under the hood, we’ve also fixed a few edge-case bugs reported during the V1.5.5 beta. Shoutout to everyone who sent in feedback — it shaped this release.

Viwoods AiPaper Reader V1.5.5 Beta Update: Side Button Customization & Ghosting Fix

TL;DR

  • Physical side button now customizable — remap it to your most-used function.
  • Ghosting significantly reduced — cleaner page turns, sharper text.
  • AI models upgraded — GPT-5.5, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Gemini 3.5 Flash, DeepSeek V4 now live.
  • New system fonts added.
  • WeRead bug fixed — app no longer keeps the screen awake.

The V1.5.5 beta for the Viwoods AiPaper Reader drops tomorrow. Two changes headline this release: giving you control over the hardware in your hands, and making the screen look better than ever.

🔘 Side button, your rules.

This is the big one. You can now remap the physical side button to whatever function you reach for most. Eraser? Lasso? Highlighter? Pick it, set it, and stop digging through menus mid-thought. It's a small change in settings with an outsized impact on how fluid the device feels day to day.

⚡ Ghosting and display clarity, overhauled.

We went deep on the refresh pipeline. Page turns are visibly cleaner, with far less ghosting and text residue. Blacks look deeper, text is sharper, and the overall reading experience is noticeably crisper. Whether you're in a novel or a dense PDF, your eyes will feel the difference.

🧠 AI gets a full engine swap.

All AI features now run on the latest generation of large language models: GPT-5.5, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Gemini 3.5 Flash, and DeepSeek V4. Summaries, translations, content refinement — all faster, sharper, and more contextually aware than before.

🔤 New curated fonts.

A handpicked selection of typefaces is now available under Settings. Reading is personal, and the right font makes a difference.

📱 WeRead screen timeout fix.

WeRead can no longer override the system sleep timer. Battery life breathes easier now.

🛠 Also in this release.

  • System translation produces more natural, fluent results.
  • Software update UI has been streamlined for fewer taps and less confusion.
  • General performance and stability improvements.

Why this matters.

V1.5.5 is about control — control over your hardware, and control over how crisp and clean your screen looks. The side button remap alone rewires the device around your workflow. Paired with the ghosting fix and the AI upgrade, this update makes the Reader feel tighter, faster, and more personal without changing what already works.

Join the beta.

Beta testers get V1.5.5 starting tomorrow. Already in the program? Your early feedback catches edge cases before the public rollout. Not a tester yet? Drop your device serial number in our Discord or DM us.

Cleaner screen. Your button, your rules. Same focus-first ethos. Enjoy the update. ✌️

[Response to User Feedback] We Look Forward to More Feedback!

Thank you so much, u/sebastianthebird, for writing such a detailed feedback report regarding V3.14.5! We have prepared this official reply specifically for you. Detailed insights like yours are incredibly valuable to our team and play a direct role in helping us refine the digital paper experience.

Our development and operations teams have reviewed every single point you raised. Here is a detailed breakdown of our plans and responses regarding your feedback:

1. Coming Soon (Next Update & Near Term)

  • Reverse Linking & Jumping: This is currently in active development and is expected to be released in our next version update.
  • Memo Optimization: We are rolling out a major optimization for the Memo feature in the upcoming version.
  • Priority Icons: We agree with your assessment. We will redesign the High, Medium, and Low priority icons to make them much clearer and easier to distinguish.
  • Marks Left-Aligned: We are prioritizing this UI adjustment and will optimize the alignment as soon as possible.

2. On the Roadmap (Future Development)

  • To-Do Auto-Migration: We will be adding an "Auto-Migrate" feature. Once toggled on, any uncompleted To-Dos will automatically carry over to the next day.
  • To-Do Secondary Editing: The ability to perform secondary editing on handwritten To-Dos is highly requested and is planned for future development.
  • Global To-Dos: A global overview for To-Dos is officially on our development roadmap.
  • Custom AI Accounts: We plan to develop a feature that allows users to plug in their own AI accounts, which will be natively embedded into our AI workflow.
  • Outline Functionality: Our current priority is to develop foundational features for the Outline tool, such as hyperlinks and subsets. Once those are stable, we will consider implementing a handwritten version of the Outline.
  • OCR & Crop Naming: We will continue to optimize the OCR recognition accuracy, as well as improve the naming mechanism for cropped items in future updates.
  • Daily Quotes: We will update our library with a wider variety of more suitable quotes.

3. System Logic & Feature Retention

  • Deleting Tasks: We noticed your suggestion, but a significant portion of our user base has grown accustomed to the current deletion flow. To avoid disrupting their established habits, we will not be removing this function for now.
  • Navigation "Back" Behavior: This comes down to a difference in underlying logic. In our system, "Back" is defined as returning to the previous step or page state, rather than moving "Up" one folder level in the directory. We will keep monitoring user feedback on this to see if the logic needs further adjustment.

4. Under Investigation & Bug Tracking

  • Hardware Glitches: Regarding the specific glitches you encountered, we suspect this might be related to the stylus hardware. Could you please let us know which stylus model you are currently using? Additionally, please send us your device's version number. We would be more than happy to send you a brand-new stylus free of charge so you can test if the issue persists.
  • Offline Pop-ups: We will conduct further testing on this. Under normal circumstances, the system should only check for network connectivity and trigger a pop-up when an AI feature is actively invoked.
  • Button Mapping: Our QA team will re-check and thoroughly test the button mapping logic to ensure stability.

5. Ecosystem Limitations

  • Apple Notes Integration: We truly wish we could make this happen. However, due to the strict ecosystem boundaries and closed protocols between Android and iOS, we are unfortunately unable to fulfill requests regarding direct Apple Notes integration.

Thank you again for your dedication to the community and for helping us build a better experience!

New in Paper App: Mark & Outline — finally, navigate your docs like a pro

Two features just landed in the Paper app that tackle one of the most common pain points we hear: finding your way around long documents.

If you've ever found yourself endlessly flipping through pages looking for that one section you know is in there somewhere… this one's for you.

🔖 Mark System — leave breadcrumbs, jump back instantly

Ever circled something important with the lasso, then lost track of where it was?

Now when you select content with the lasso, a "Create Mark" icon appears. Tap it, and that spot is saved. Every Mark shows up in the sidebar, ordered by page — tap any entry, and you jump directly to that exact location. No scrolling, no guessing.

Need to remove a Mark? Circle the content again or double-tap to bring up the edit pop-up, then tap to cancel. Clean and simple.

Perfect for:

  • Flagging key passages in research PDFs
  • Marking action items in meeting notes
  • Bookmarking sections you'll need to revisit later

📑 Outline System — build structure, skip the chaos

For documents that need actual architecture — study guides, project plans, long-form writing — you can now build an Outline directly inside Paper.

Create entries from the "More" menu or the multi-page editing view. The sidebar populates with your structure, and you can rename or delete entries anytime.

Tap any outline item, and you're there. Think of it as a built-in table of contents that you control.

Both tools live in the same sidebar, so once you're in a document, everything is one tap away.

Small features. Big workflow upgrade.

Let us know how you're using them — we're genuinely curious what clicks for you. And as always, feedback shapes what comes next.

What templates do you want to see next? (We'll build your top picks!)

We're opening up a new round of official template curation for the AiPaper template library, and this time around, the goal is simple: our library should reflect what you actually need, not just what we brainstorm around the office.

So we're asking the community directly:

👉 What templates are you missing?

It can be something practical you've been hoping for, or something you've already been using on your own — a planner you've been tweaking, a tracker that has become essential to your workflow, or a blank structure that just feels right for the way you think. The kind of template you'd recommend to another AiPaper user without hesitation.

We'll be reviewing every suggestion in the comments, and the most compelling ideas will be considered for inclusion in future official template updates. Alongside that, we're also planning to bring in a selection of professionally designed premium templates from third-party creators.

And yes — there are prizes. 🎁

A few contributors who share particularly thoughtful submissions (or clever templates the community seems to love) will receive a reward as a thank-you from us once the dust settles.

How to participate

  1. Comment below with the template(s) you'd love to see added — tell us what it's for, and why it's useful.
  2. Upvote the ideas you'd want to use yourself.

Some questions to get the ideas flowing

  • What's the one template that would make your weekly workflow noticeably smoother?
  • Is there a page layout you've always wanted but could never find?
  • What's a template you've seen on another platform or subreddit that you wish existed on AiPaper?
  • Do you have a workflow that's working great and could inspire others?

You can just drop a quick idea — or go deep. Both are welcome.

This thread will stay open for entries. Take your time. We'll review everything, compile the results, and follow up once we've made our selections.

Thanks for helping us make the library yours. We're genuinely curious to see what you all come up with. ✌️

Final note: This thread is for template requests or submissions only. If you're running into a technical issue or product question, please create a separate post or reach out to our support team. We want to keep the comments focused so we don't miss any ideas.
