First watercolor on watercolor paper

First time using watercolors. Little bit of a learning curve on paint/water ratio and getting the paint to move the way I want.

Shout out to Myke Chambers for posting a spit shading -how to video on YouTube like 6 years ago, super helpful. Still a long way to go but having a blast!

Acrylic and sharpie on cardboard

Posting mostly to say thanks to those who chimed in earlier this week with helpful direction for painting supplies, ink recs, brush sizes, paper type etc. I got myself some 140lb paper, #1-4 brushes, India ink and an OK starter watercolor set.

I wanted to finish this acrylic on cardboard that I started before I wreck myself figuring out a new-to-me medium. None of my designs- pulling references from Bert Grimm, Zeis, Percy Waters and Tex Rowe. CC is welcome.

It’s the second painting I’ve done in several years, worked out some kinks in the first one. This one had a much better flow from start to finish and I’m really enjoying painting again; a feeling I haven’t been able to conjure from a paintbrush in 2 decades.

Thanks for looking and for posting the cool shit you all make!

First time painting in 20 years, first time painting flash. Looking for advice on materials.

My take on a Bert Grimm. Painting with acrylic on a cardboard beer case tray. Used a sharpie for outlining everything first-except the wreath. Used one smallish rounded brush for everything else aside from the white background.

Looking to get back in the habit of painting and seeking advice on paints/markers to use and preferred brushes. I want cleaner lines and softer shading. I’m not wedded to cardboard but it’s what I have a lot of so I’ll keep painting on that until I run out.

Any advice, direction and or feedback is welcome, thanks!
