Does anyone know what happened here?

It was already becoming quite the extensive list (thousands of entries) with lots of information added by many of us eager to share. Was actually looking forward to browsing throw the list once done, to appreciate other peoples stuff, but alas, it was not meant to be it seems.

Could someone help me out?

This is mostly directed to all the fellow German speakers here (I've searched for a DE sub to ask there first but couldn't find one, sorry).

In any case, behold my first serious attempt at fixing my handwriting! I thought I did a solid enough job coming up with my new standard, but APPARENTLY it's still not legible (enough) :(

What am I still doing wrong? Is it really "too creative" cause I'm using initial, medial, and final variants for some of my letters?

Thanks in advance to anyone volunteering to help me out here. And sorry for my rambling.

Oh! And yeah... please excuse the, ehm, strangeness of the sample text. It's beginner translation practice from a Latin textbook.

Is my a priori conlang secretly Indo-European??

u/Pliny_The_Elder_1789 pointed out a strange degree of PIE-ness concerning my conlang Kaijyma. The discussion that followed can be read here (underneath the gloss and IPA of an audio sample): https://www.reddit.com/r/conlangs/comments/1tlfg30/comment/onfqoyc

The audio sample: https://www.reddit.com/r/conlangs/s/FiFN0kEUml

What I'm presenting to you now is some documentation on the oldest stage of the language I've sufficiently developed thus far. Old Kaijyma was spoken around 2000 years before modern Kaijyma became recognizable.

Modern Kaijyma:

0 yon /ɪ̯̈ɔn/ [ɪ̯̈ɔn̠]
1 ni /nɪ/ [ȵ˔ɪ]
2 lan /lɑn/ [l̠ɑn̠]
3 syŕ /sɨːɻ/ [s̠ɨːɻ]
4 ți /ʂ͡ʈɪ/ [ʂ͡ʈɪ]
5 teze /ˌtɤ̞.zɤ̞/ [ˌt̠ʰɤ̞.z̠ɜ]
6 řypa /ˈɣɨː.pɑ/ [ˈɣ˖ɨː.ɸʾʌ]
7 plai /plɑɪ̯/ [pʰl̠ɑɪ̯]
8 kosa /ˌkɔ.sɑ/ [ˌk͡xɔ.s̠ʌ]
9 zef /zɤ̞f/ [z̠ɤ̞f]
10 maƕe /ˌmɑ.ʍɤ̞/ [ˌmɑ.ɰ̊͡x̟ʷ̹ɜ]
11 łiŕa /ˌɬɪ.ɻɑ/ [ˌȴ˔̊ɪ.ɻʌ]
12 jyl /ʐɨːl/ [ʐɨːl̠]

OK (Old Kaijyma)

0 evmu /e̞ʋ.mɯ/ [ˈe̞ʋ.mɪ̈]
1 niu /nɪ.ɯ/ [ˈnɪ.ɪ̈]
2 lomu /lo̞.mɯ/ [ˈlo̞.mɪ̈]
3 sjebu /sje̞.bɯ/ [ˈsje̞.βɪ̈]
4 dtiu /dtɪ.ɯ/ [ˈθt̪ɪ.ɪ̈]
5 tuzuu /tɯ.zɯ.ɯ/ [ˈtɨ.zɪ̈ː]

My favorite CIS POV fanfic

I've been reading non-stop for the past 3 days.

> It is twenty-two years before the Battle of Yavin, and the galaxy is at war. >
> Born to a not unimportant, not important planet in the Inner Rim, Rain never placed much thought into his future. After all, the galaxy is vast, and peaceful living should not be hard to find. Two decades later, armies are marshalled, and warships grace the stars, propelled aloft the wings of war. >
> Armed with the knowledge of nine movies, Rain is forced into joining the galactic conflict. On the losing side.

Basically MC trying to prevent the rise of the Empire by messing with the timeline, all the while placing epic focus on the actual space-battles and galaxy-spanning strategies at play. Plus a treasure trove of Legends cameos and lore implementations.

I ● CANNOT ● STOP ● READING !!! HELP

procedural texture orientation on rotation-applied objects

Hi everyone! I've just completed this awesome tree texture for a project of mine by following this great tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ECeHoATa74.

With how the mapping node works, the orientation of the texture will always be along the local space axes of the object and not along any topology, right?

I'd bake the result now and use it like any other tileable texture, but maybe there's a better way I'm not aware of? I'd like to keep the procedural randomness intact if at all possible. I'm new to procedural textures, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. Thanks in advance!

First time messing with tones

Is this believable?

Or should I go with:

e > e > e (mid)

je > je > ē (high)

we > we > ę (low)

ej > é > é (mid-high)

jej > jé > ě (high-low-high)

wej > wé > é (mid-high)

ew > è > è (high-low)

jew > jè > è (high-low)

wew > wè > ê (low-high-low)

Or smth else?

I only have experience with a little bit of Chinese. Any tonal language speakers around here? Would love to hear your thoughts! :)

Palästinalied in Djyþc

At the dawn of the 13th century, a series of mysterious portals opened in central and northern Europe.

Seeking to claim the mystical land that lay beyond, crusaders and daring settlers alike ventured forth into the unknown.

One fateful day, all gateways to Earth suddenly closed shut, leaving thousands stranded.

A simplified pidgin language quickly began to form, to bridge the gap between the stranded Old Norse and Middle High German speaking populations.

The creole that was born out of that union, being none other than Old Djyþc.

As the name implies, Old Djyþc gradually evolved into the contemporary Djyþc language, which is the stage of the language showcased here.

A complete glossary of the text, including IPA, can be viewed here:

tried to draw a cube without involving any infinities

Wanted to find the one and only true perfect squircle.

Basically create a function that reshapes the unit circle in such a way that the corners of a square are created, with the deformation of the corners governed by a set variable (distance from the center: √2 = full square, 1 = circle, etc.).

Then drawing the perfect squircle would just require setting that variable to (√2+1)/2 .

Found some interesting patterns instead.

Yes, this was 3am-half-asleep math prompted by a YT video.

Kaijyma sample

Just noticed while trying out this trendy graph-maker thing that Kaijyma is basically inverted English in this sentence lol.

/kʷɤ̞s.tɑ ˈplɪ̯̈ɔn.tɪl ŋʏ.zʏ.çe̞/

[ˌk͡xʷ̹ɤ̞s̠.t̠ʰʌ ˈpʰȴ˔ɪ̯̈ɔȵ˔.ȶ̝ʰɪl̠ ɲœˌz̠ʏ.çɛ]

Qesta plyon-til ŋó-zó-hé?”

elsewhere swim:VRB-2SG.IND Q-NEG-ABIL

This would be the more formal version:

Qesta ŋózóplyonhétil?

Though even:

Plyonŋózóhétil qesta?

Ŋóplyonzóhétil qesta?

etc.

would be grammatically correct.

Just finished writing out this Kaijyma conlang sample in Lilfaśśa (”like the wind”) a cursive version of the conlang’s main script.

https://www.reddit.com/r/neography/comments/1pot0zl/kaijyma_writing_part_1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

This is a reversed abugida, i. e. consonants are diacritics on vowels.

I’ve broken the text up into lines so that I‘ll be able to use them as subtitles for an upcoming narration video.

The Fable of the Child and the Skywhale

Many summers ago, a child was lost and taken by the land. A spirit was born. Quickly, it flew up to the clouds, riding the spirit-currents between the floating islands, and came across a sky-whale.

It asked: “Why do you always follow the same path through the sky? Couldn’t you swim elsewhere?”

The big sky whale chuckled softly, then spoke: “I am but another island. People love being able to see me in the glowing sky, and the birds on my back need me. The stable seasons of their home would start to change. They would not find food where they know they can find some. And the predators would grow hungry without their prey.”
