What is your opinion on MCs who specialize in one type having Pokemon of another type on their teams? Like say a dragon type specialist having a Gardevoir or Magnazone?
Do you like it? Hate it? What are your thoughts?
So previously I had asked what was the opinion on harems in Pokemon fanfics, and while the general consensus was that people didn’t like them due to most being poorly done, I saw a few people(like 2 or 3) mention that in their opinions, polycule was peak.
So I became interested. what is your opinion on polycules? Do you like them? Not like them? Don’t care for them? Or would just prefer a different relationship type or no romantic relationship at all?
So I want to write a LONG fic that cover multiple regions and I’m currently doing the laying out for the arc of Kanto. Now in the fic, one of my MC’s Pokemon get killed by Archer(it was his Raticate) during a fight as an ego/reality check as well as giving him a fear of certain Pokemon for him to later conquer.
However, now I’m sitting here wondering if I should revive him as a ghost pokemon(I’m thinking a Haunter) or if I should make the Pokemon stay dead.
On one hand, I have these plot points planned out to make sure the revival doesn’t come out of nowhere and I really like ghost types as a whole.
On the other hand, I feel like it would kind of contradict the whole reason for the death if the Pokemon was revived and I already feel like I have given the MC enough leniency/gifts with what I have planned for him and his future teammates.
I’m just kind of at a standstill and I would like some opinions.
I’ve been reading a lot of fics recently and I want to know: what is your consensus on harems? Do like them? Do you hate them? Do you want them to have many members or a small amount? How do you feel about their impacts on the fic?
My opinion is that I don’t mind them as long as they aren’t rushed(like I don’t want the love interests to suddenly get flustered every time the MC does something after they just met) and don’t impact the story TOO much
Do you like it when Ash is in Pokemon fanfics? If so, in what capacity? Do you like it when he is in the background, a rival, a travel companion to the MC, etc?
