c. 1912 - 1927 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿/🇦🇹/🇺🇸 Orlik Single Wheel in burgundy leather wrap made in Austria imported to US by MEB

This simple lighter has an intricate history. The company is Orlik from England which was started by Austrian Louis Orlik. With connections to Austria, many of Orlik's lighters were made there, including this one.

MEB was an American company started by German Max E. Bernhardt that imported several lighters from Europe, including this one, resulting in an American logo stamped on an English lighter made in Austria.

I refer to this one as "The Water Tower." This particular example is engraved indicating it being from the Somerville Joinery & Timber Mills Pty. Ltd. in Australia, later known as Plummer's Somerville Joinery & Timber Mills Pty. Ltd., or perhaps as a gift to an employee.

The original flint strips are still present and jagged, but work nonetheless!
