What if this changes games in a way people don't consider?

First I am fully supportive of game ownerships and being able to play something I paid for but I am worried that the laws are going to move to fast and the industry could turn into something that I like even less.

I have been reading up on AB 1921 "Protect our games act".

What if this forces company's to start designing games so that it can legally survive on 1% of launch infrastructure. What if this pushes "Every game gets fully preserved forever" into “Publishers maintain legally sufficient minimal-access preservation modes at extremely low operational cost.”

  • They stop caring about cheating. (bad for competitive games)
  • They stop caring about maintenance past keeping the servers running.
  • There is little to no moderation

This could essentially turn games into versions of the game we don't even care about anymore and are no longer worth playing?
