HSA Contributions, Cobra & Medicare

I’m currently employed and contributing annually to my HSA account. I plan to retire sometime next year. At the latest, I will retire when I turn 65 in October of next year (2027). I’m considering retiring a few months earlier (May or June 2027) and using Cobra to bridge the healthcare gap until October when I can go on Medicare. Can I still contribute the maximum annual amount to my HSA account in 2027? Or am I subject to some prorata rule? If the latter, does continuing my current HDHP plan through Cobra affect my HSA contribution eligibility?

Difficult Day

The movers are coming today to get the last of the furniture out of my husband’s office. I’ve been in there every day this past week scanning, shredding, boxing client files, cleaning out drawers and cabinets, etc. In a few hours, his office will be empty.

We met at work and my office was next to his. I can still see him sitting behind his desk. I’d pop in to chat for a minute and he’d flash me that big gorgeous grin of his. Or I’d rub his shoulders for a few minutes if he was stressed. I loved being able to see him during the work day. For some reason, it feels like he’s leaving me all over again. Like he’s being erased little by little. I miss him so much.

Switching to Standard Plan with Edfinancial

For those with loans being serviced by Edfinancial who have switched to the standard plan, how did you do it? Did you have to call? My daughter completed the Repayment Plan Request form and I went to upload it on the Edfinancial site, but in the upload documents section, under repayment plan menu options , there is no option for the standard plan. I know that the standard plan is the default at the end of 90 days, but I want to make the switch now so I can set up autopay and get the temporary interest reduction. Trying to avoid making a call.

Our baby girl got married this weekend. I hope you could see her from heaven or wherever you are. She was the picture of beauty and grace, full of love and laughter, that big smile lighting up her face. You would’ve been so proud.

We had a moment of remembrance for you. I put on my smile and mingled. I posed for photos. It was such a happy occasion, but you weren’t by my side where you were supposed to be. There is a hole that can sometimes be masked, but can never be filled. I hope he is as good to her as you were to me. I miss you so much.
