Mini ITX Console/Streaming Set-Up

Hi there!

I'm looking to upgrade my living room set-up by replacing our Roku + million streaming platforms with a small PC that can stream and run some games on our living room TV. Ideally, I'm looking to keep prices as low as possible, as close to console prices as possible, but I'm not sure what is feasible in this day and age. Have any of you created something similar? Happy to hear any advice you may have as I go about this endeavour.

  • New build or upgrade?
    • New Build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
    • A TV connected with HDMI (1080p).
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Primarily streaming, some gaming for couch co-op games. Dream would be able to run RDR2 and games like Paralives/Sims, but that can be with a future upgrade if needed.
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • Canada (Quebec), can go to Microcenter in NJ as needed
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • None
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • Trying to keep it as low as possible! Ideally under $1K, bonus points if it's closer to $500. My hope is to get a cheap set-up going, which would replace a console + streaming platform. If needed, I'm happy to go used for some parts (I know RAM in particular is horrendous to buy new right now) to keep the price low, if you have suggestions for which parts are best to buy used!
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • WiFi ideally
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • Ideally looking for a small PC to set up in our living room, hence why I was thinking Mini ITX. However, if it's significantly cheaper, maybe an unassuming larger case could work in the living
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • Discreet
  • Any other specific needs?
    • Wireless keyboard and mouse suggestions are welcome!

Happy to answer any questions!
