Turned off engine with mags: reason for concern?

I absentmindedly shut off my engine with mags versus mixture. Should I be concerned about anything on the plane or just take it as a lesson learned?

  1. Parked
  2. Set rpm 1000
  3. Avionics, master, mags - off
  4. Engine kicks twice makes nasty thunk noise then dies
  5. Finished shutdown
  6. Quick visual inspection seemed nominal
  7. Restarted the engine and seemed to run normal at 1000 rpm for a few minutes
  8. Increased to 1500 rpm and ran normal and passed mag check
  9. Shut down correctly

My plan is to check the exhaust and engine bay during pre-flight, do a longer than normal ground run up, and then exercise the engine in the pattern for ~30 min Any reason this is a bad idea?

What info to share with network in co-founder hunt? I will not promote

Context: solo founder, designing novel UAV, entering prototyping, found customer interest. Not patented yet. Reaching out to network about potential technical co-founders. Aware of YC match tool, but asking specifically about in-person-network-driven connections.

Primarily corporate-based network, so technically rich but barren in startup experience so these are most likely "passive interest" candidates (wouldn't think about startup life unless someone asked). Some friends/associates ask for a one-slider pitch to forward to interested parties to gauge interest in a meet-up. I don't want to wantonly distribute my pitch deck and want something short and sweet for this.

Any recommendations on how to smartly send out info like this to capture a first conversation?

  • What's good info to include for potential co-founders? I was thinking
    • (1) one-liner with company name, product, pain point, customers/market, and solution;
    • (2) current progress (technical + business);
    • (3) technical challenges;
    • (4) qualities looking for in co-founder;
    • (5) my background (location, experience, competitive edge)
  • Should I try to convince someone to be interested in startup work, or just look for people actively interested? ie is it one of those "if they don't have it, don't try" things, or do some people just need to be shown the water isn't too cold?
  • Should I be concerned about sending this out in a form that can be forwarded? Not sure if irrational or not but concerned about ungoverned distribution of my business model/idea
  • Is it a bad idea to include a single ConOp picture/diagram? Not sure if this is something I should keep close-hold
  • What are some red & green flags looking at a partner with entirely corporate background?
  • Open to any other advice on co-founder hunt

My screen suddenly became unreadable—fixable?

I opened my Kindle this morning and the screen had errant lines and ghost texts across the whole screen. It looks like a diagonal crack from the bottom left to top right, but it is digital only and I haven’t dropped it.

Can this be fixed?

I tried holding the power button for 40 sec but it just made the screen flash; it never fully shut down.

Edit: sounds like it’s broken, thanks very much for the quick replies
