What dialogue systems or engines do you incorporate during your playthroughs?

Wondering what everyone had used to improve the dialogue. I've tried using Keep Talking, which is excellent, but almost too much for what I'm looking for.

Solo game recommendations similar to Eldritch Horror?

I've played the board game several times solo playing as two characters. I love the art. The scope. The random encounters. How it's not just about combat. And even the add ons are fun.

But it's too damn big with too many components.

I'm aware of the card game and have yet to try it, but I'm wondering if there isn't a solo rpg or game that's more compact but keeps the Lovecraft theme, detective style, and wide scope.

Edit: Thanks for all the replies! I'm gonna start with Alone Against the Flames but I want to look into all the suggestions.
