WalnutPod is finally ready — thanks for all the earlier feedback

A while ago, we shared WalnutPod here while it was still in the pre-sale stage, and the community gave us a lot of really helpful feedback — we truly appreciate that. The first batch is now finished, and WalnutPod is officially ready.

We were able to incorporate some of the suggestions into this version. We added two foam thickness options to help protect different walnut sizes (maximum 42mm), adjusted the magnetic closure, and worked on the surface finish so it stays as close as possible to the original render.

There were also some ideas we may explore in a second update. And of course, we’d also love to hear from anyone who picks one up later — comments and discussion are always welcome.

Big thanks again to everyone here for the feedback :)

A Quick Guide to Some Common Wenwan Walnut Varieties

We noticed a lot of people here are beginners or just getting into Wenwan, so we made a simple visual guide to a few common walnut varieties that may be more beginner-friendly.
It only covers some brief pros and cons, but we hope it helps with basic recognition and understanding.

  1. White Lion is one of the best walnut varieties for beginners. However, it highly affected by weather conditions, so their yearly yield can be very unstable, which also makes prices less consistent.
  2. Apple Orchard walnuts have plum branch pattern**.** However, ithave very thin shell texture, so they need to be handled with extra care.
  3. Most Nanjiang Stone walnuts have a ginger-yellow skin type and change color very slowly, which really tests your patience.
  4. Starry Sky walnuts have very deep, dense texture, so brushing them takes much more time and effort, but their final color development can be especially beautiful.
  5. The chrysanthemum-like bottom is one of Four Towers signature traits, but finding one with a really nice bottom is not easy either.
  6. Most Millstone walnuts are naturally uneven, and truly well-shaped ones are extremely rare and often very expensive.

Every pair needs steady care, and the patina process really tests your patience and dedication. Wenwan walnut varieties go far beyond these. There are many more types worth exploring and handling, and we hope everyone finds a variety that truly speaks to them.

Thank you so much for the interest in WalnutPod. I wanted to answer a few common questions here since some of my replies seem to be getting collapsed.
Magnetic lid
Yes, WalnutPod does have a magnetic lid design. For a cleaner look, the magnets are hidden inside the case. You can slightly see the magnetic area from the reflection in the first photo.

Inner padding / foam
The inside has a soft sponge layer to help reduce movement and prevent the walnuts from bumping into each other while being carried. The sample shown in the photos has a black inner layer, but the final version will come with a white inner layer so the overall look stays cleaner.
Also**,**the pair shown in Photo 2 is around 36mm, and when the lid is closed, there is no rattling sound at all.
Since many walnuts are still developing patina and may release oils over time, the foam may naturally get stained or discolored. So we also include a few extra replacement foam pieces for future use.

If anyone has more questions or suggestions, feel free to ask. I’m happy to talk more about it.

Hi everyone,

We’ve been working on a small storage case for Wenwan walnuts, which is called Walnut Pod :P

The idea is simple: give a walnut pair a small “home” instead of leaving it on the desk or putting it in a random pouch.

Design-wise, we did take inspiration from modern wireless earbud charging cases — the compact rounded shape, the familiar hand feel, and the idea of a small everyday carry object. But the purpose, inner structure, and proportions were developed specifically for Wenwan walnuts.

We wanted to bring a more modern EDC feeling to something very traditional, rather than making another pouch or wooden box.

We spent about a month adjusting the size, shape, structure, and surface pattern. It’s designed to fit most pairs up to around 44mm, and the lid uses a magnetic closure.

The design is now finished, and we’re opening it for pre-order while production is being arranged.

Would you actually use something like this? Any advice? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Edit: Welcome to our site to see more info:P https://walnutritual.com/
