Looking to meet Mongolian friends and practise Mongolian

Hello! I'm spending some time in UB and I'd love to meet some young people and make new friends. I'd also really like to practise my Mongolian, so it'd be great to find someone who'd be up for chatting, hanging out and maybe showing me around a bit. 😊🍀

What is хоргол жин бар?

Hey hey, I'm a foreign student and we had a class about some Mongolian words for sizes and dimensions... I am supposed to find out what хорголоо тоолох and хоргол жин бар means. I cannot find any information for хоргол жин бар (хорголжин бар?) . What exactly does it mean? I'm not even sure whether I spelled it right tho.

Where can I buy good winter clothes?

Hi! I'm planning to stay in Mongolia this winter and I am not sure my European clothes are going to be sufficient for the Mongolian Winter. Do you have any recommendations for a good place to buy clothes? I'd also like to buy үстэй дээл, I've been told that should be enough for the temperatures in UB.

Thank you.

Tips and trick for life in Mongolia as a student?

Hello,

I am going to spend the next five months in Mongolia as an exchange student studying Mongolian. I do speak Mongolian a bit already. I'm wondering if there are any useful apps that will make my life there easier and more convenient.

It could be anything - from apps for getting around, finding places to eat, communication to payments...

If you have any tips on where to go have fun, places to eat, shop, your favourite spots or any other tips and tricks for living in Mongolia (especially during winter) I'd appreciate it a lot.

Also, is there something I should refrain from doing? Something that might be considered rude (or illegal) in Mongolia that foreigners might not know?

Thank you. 😊

Winter in Mongolia

Hello hello,

I am probably going to Mongolia for an exchange next semester. I would like to know, how much I should prepare for the Mongolian winter.

I've visited Mongolia several times already, but it was always during the summer. I study Mongolian, so getting around is not a big issue for me. (Even though I haven't spoken in Mongolian in a long time, so I should probably start practicing again 😅)

Before I went for the first time, my Mongolian friends warned me that I will probably not enjoy it. However, I've enjoyed it so much, I went twice more. And now I have the chance to go there for a whole semester, however, I'm not sure if there's anything to do during the winter, since everyone's been telling me, I'll probably be just at home, cause you cannot do much outside.

I've seen nice outdoor places in UB during the summer, like outdoor bars, ktv...

Not sure how active the life is there during the winter.

Any tips where to go or what to do? Or if it's safe / worth

to go outside UB?

Thanks
