Can a person on death row repeatedly commit crimes to delay their execution?
Assuming that each trial could take a year or more to reach a verdict, what prevents them from doing this?

I'm asking why people want their child to get the best or most useful higher education, then get a high paying or prestigious job. Is it because you think they won't be happy otherwise? Do you think if they're not successful they won't be able to find a partner? Do you want to be proud of their success? I'm asking because I'm trying to understand why my parents want me to be successful so strongly, even though I might be happier if I lived an average/unsuccessful life.
