Does anyone know if 1st Formations has transparent pricing?

I’m looking to move my consulting work from sole trader to an LTD next week and I’ve come across 1st formations while looking at the different options but I'm incredibly paranoid about hidden corporate fees. A lot of online setup agents seem to lure you in for a couple of quid and then lock your digital certificates behind a paywall or add random recurring software retainers at checkout.

If you used them recently, is the checkout bill actually what you pay? I just want the basic incorporation paperwork without getting stuck in a subscription loop. Would appreciate any help! thankyou.

Anyone else regret using their home address on Companies House? The junk mail is insane.

Hi everyone, stupid mistake on my part, but I registered my consulting LTD a few months back using my flat address in Clapham.

I didn't think much of it at the time but the sheer volume of junk mail arriving at my door now is absolutely driving me mad like every random corporate tax advisor, scammy business insurance broker and smh web dev agency in the UK seems to have pulled my details off the public registry.

It honestly feels like a massive breach of personal privacy.I’m looking to fix this asap before renewal season kicks in. For those who use a virtual office or director service address to keep their front door off the public records, who are you using? I’m looking for something that gives a professional London image without costing an absolute fortune. Is the mail forwarding straightforward with standard corporate address services or is it a hassle to transition everything over once you’re already registered?

Appreciate any local recommendations!

Two years outside IR35 as a sole trader. Where does it become really expensive to not have a PSC?

Hey everyone,I’ve been a contract dev for two years, consistently outside IR35. The catch? I’ve done it all as a sole trader.Every time I looked at setting up a Limited company, my brain melted.

I kept staring at registration packages, getting overwhelmed by the jargon, and convincing myself the admin wasn't worth the headache.Well, I finally spoke to a contractor accountant last week. She ran the numbers comparing my sole trader taxes vs. trading through a psc over the last 24 months. The difference is a massive, life-changing amount of money.

I literally felt sick looking at what I threw away.I’m finally ready to make the jump but I’m terrified of the unknown. For those who transitioned, what does the actual roadmap look like from day one? What are the hidden traps or 'holy shit' surprises in the first few months I need to brace myself for?

Just hit £40k profit as a freelancer. Is this actually the point where going limited starts making sense?

Three years as a sole trader, income has grown steadily and just crossed £40k profit this year for the first time.

Keep seeing £40-50k mentioned as the tipping point for the limited company conversation but nobody ever explains the actual maths behind it. When I try to model it myself I get confused by how corporation tax, dividend tax and accountant fees all interact and the saving looks smaller than people suggest.

Also not sure whether the type of work matters. I do freelance writing and content, no employees, no real liability exposure. Does the structure make sense for someone like me or is it mainly relevant for higher earners or more complex setups.

For people who made this switch at a similar income, what did the real net saving actually look like and was it worth it at that level?
