OOC UNITS

What’s the best unit to go to for OOC assignments. Why do some units barely go out while others are out all season? Im in NorCal btw (btu).

FAE

Just looking for some honest perspective from people who’ve been around longer than me. I’ve got about 6 years in fire, mostly crew experience, but less than a year on the engine/medical side. I’ve been feeling pressure to take an FAE spot now because it feels like the window is open, and I worry if I wait I might miss my shot.

At the same time, I still feel like I’ve got more to learn. Seeing people with less experience promote also makes me think, “if they can do it, why can’t I?” Just trying to figure out if now’s the time to jump or if these opportunities will still be around later.

I’m currently laid off and recently received a FF2 offer with CZU, with an FFA start date in September. I spoke with the Chief, and he mentioned they would try to bring me on sooner, but nothing sounds guaranteed at this point.

Can I still work for another unit sooner as FF1 and then transfer out once FFA starts ?
