How to get into BIM role

Hello,

Im a CAD Drafter/Project Engineer for a small electrical contractor,

What advice could you give for someone with some knowledge of BIM(around 6 months of revit MEP practice from linked in learning courses) trying to get into a BIM role?

Perhaps as a BIM Technician or similar role?

Asking for a Revit Career Advice

Hello,

I have been studying and practicing Revit for about 6 months, I have covered a couple full linked in learning courses from Paul Aubin and Eric Wing on Revit and Revit MEP

I'm specifically interested in reaching out for the Revit Certified Professional in Electrical Design certification

Unfortunately I don't have all that much hands on experience at work, as my company only uses AutoCAD, I work at an electrical contractor on medium commercial projects.

So I was considering going for the Revit Certified User certification instead, as a stepping stone to the much harder professional certification

Are these certifications worth it? Is there a need for BIM modellers or is it something that only engineers do themselves? I don't have a degree just construction experience and some certifications but I'm really interested in growing in this field and maybe some day becoming a MEP Coordinator or VDC Manager

Thanks for taking the time to read this any help is welcome
