Ducked in to the supermarket to grab some fruit and found these bangers

Hybrid SOTD and mini review of some Pineward prototypes - Today’s sample is Riparian which is a beautiful cold and airy light green. Would be great in the warmer months as it has a dewy petrichor accord and a light mossy finish.
Really hope this one gets a full release as it’d definitely be a purchase for me.

Second favourite was Rivendale, a light fruity ( rhubarb) and pine. Slightly resinous without going too far into dark pitch territory and there’s a slight earthiness maybe from the fall leaves note.

Haven’t mentioned the other 4 samples as they’ve only been given a cursory sniff and only the above 2 really stood out.

Pretty sure the whole collection of 6 is aimed towards Summer as they’re all on the lighter side with green elements.

Wondering if anyone has tried this - being a big powerhouse style fougere it looks right up my alley but samples are hard to come by here.

Very tempted to just blind buy it but these style of fragrances are very hit or miss…

Received my bottle of Epichron Twin Peaks today , a fantastic dry, smoky black tea (Lapsang Souchong) with some woods and vetiver at the base.

Wanted to give a big recommendation for Sweet Fern at Ballarat, Carlyn always goes the extra mile with some nice wrapping, hand written note and in this case heaps of samples ( 6 prototypes from Pineward and 3 from Kintsugi)

Going proper old school today with Sybaris from Puig - delicious Chypre with a load of Patchouli and Vetiver at the base.
Truly an example of one that they just don’t make anymore.

Lampblack from Fzotic , a lovely oily, slightly smoky vetiver.
Just 2 sprays earlier this morning and it’s still behaving very nicely.

Anyone else have a favourite from Fzotic ?

Giving a decant of Speakeasy a run today.

Very pleasant rum forward boozy frag with a nice Immortelle humming away through it, as it’s drying down I’m getting a bit more tobacco and leather as well.

Very nice but not really different enough from something like 1740 for me to want to get a full bottle.

Would be a good one to try for anyone wanting a boozy scent without leaning too much into the sweet gourmand side of things.

More of a scent of the afternoon , but nonetheless still counts - Armani Eau de Cedre today , my favourite dry cedar that’s actually more of a black tea with cedar.

Smells beautiful like drinking a freshly brewed black tea out in the bush on a crisp morning.

I’ll go since nobody else is 😂

Duc de Vervins L’extreme from Houbigant , straight up old school barbershop / fougere .

Variations on a theme, if that theme is Drakkar Noir and Bon Monsieur.
Loads of Lavender and Oakmoss under Citrus, pretty basic but very well done.

Quick recommendation for a store I’d never purchased from before ( and hadn’t heard of ) called Smallflower Apothecary.

USA based with a physical store, which made my first purchase less hesitant as it’s always good if there’s a physical store to give peace of mind.

They have a good range of Fragrance, Groomimg products and home fragrance etc.

Really good selection of Niche brands that are hard to find here and pricing is very good even after the exchange rate.

I was able to grab a couple of things I’ve been chasing for a couple of years - brands that are no longer being stocked here in Australia ( Castle Forbes and Fzotic)

Very quick with a follow up answer to my query on shipping, as where I’m located I have to use a P.O Box and a lot of international sellers won’t ship to me as a result.
Shipping was only around $35 and I had my order within two weeks of ordering, which is very fast for an overseas shipment.

They have a loyalty/ rewards system where you accumulate points, and also if you sign up you get a code for 10% off on your first order.

Homme Hump day for this frosty Wednesday - how’s everyone’s day and fragrance looking ?

Hope the new week is treating everyone kindly - going a bit old school today with Santos de Cartier Concentre,a very herbal and slightly woody aromatic.

Still yet to try the recent re-release of this.

Wet and gloomy start to the day, looks like the rain is here for the whole week so trying to brighten up the day a little with Zdravetz from Fzotic - a lovely green Rose with a bit of Geranium and a touch of Leather.

Cold and slightly drizzly start to the day , reached for Bois du Portugal but then remembered I had this - a slightly beefier version 🙂

Much like Creeds offering but everything seems to be dialled up a touch more , a bit sharper and more bite on the opening and lasts a good while too.
