Pro tip: don't lame at 1000 elo

I was Saracens matched vs Vietnamese (civ) on Arabia. I know what that means, I scouted my front immediately. I could find all 4 sheep, but one boar was gone.

I then watched the replay. The opponent sent his scout straight to my base and found my boar. With some difficulty, he brought the boar to his TC. As the TC started shooting, the scout was only on 1 HP but the boar managed to hit him one more time. RIP scout. By that time (min 4), the opponent also had 1:30 TC idle time and he didn't find any of his sheep neither (as he went straight forward).

He took my boar alright, but he crippled himself much more.

What's y'all's ELO and can you pull off a lame?

I haven't tried once.

PS: Saracens won the game, but it went late.

Saracens - need help

Can someone propose a gameplan for Saracens in which it makes sense to go for mamelukes?

I play mainly Saracens on open maps, between 950 - 1000 elo, and most of the time I go for archers. I try to win in early castle with xbow timing. If the opponent defends well, I add siege & monks, and also a few camels to discourage the opponent to go cavalry. In the end game, I play mostly arbalests & hussars, sometimes camels depending on resources (with siege and monks). Because of my composition, the opponent usually doesn't make cavalry. So actually there is no point in going into Mamelukes.

In the very late game, sometimes I could afford them, but I have a feeling it would be either "kicking a dead horse" or I would actually throw the game.

How should I play feudal & early castle so that it makes sense to play mamelukes and to win with them?

No villagers were harmed during this game

Game of AOE2 is usually a game of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Whoever kills more of innocent workres, usually wins. However in my last game (me Byzantines vs opponent Cumans), we fought it out in the middle (QS Runestones) and there was not a single eco kill - not even through a boar.

I request a game mode where villagers cannot be killed. Only if they venture into your territory to build structures on your land then they should be rightfully executed as spies.

And secondly, how to counter Cuman 2TC boom with a slow civ such as Byz? I forgot I was aginst Cumans, so I went for a defensive approach (walling, spears & skirms). Probably archers & towers? MaA?

My preferred map is Megarandom, if i get it, I always play random civ. So I randomed into Malay. As I am not used to the civ, I was not sure what unit to make in mid castle so I had few hundred food and gold to spend. Why not make some knights? So I qued 8 or 10 of them. While my other units were on the battlefield infront of the enemy base, the opponent went sneak around and tried to castle drop my starting TC. My knights went to the rescue, cleared his 15 vils, saved my economy and tanked his : )

Then I went on the Malay page on fandom and read this:

The Malay should never attempt to build any cavalry units (except battle elephants) or go for a Knight rush since their cavalry is incredibly weak, lacking Bloodlines and two important armor techs for their cavalry.
