Realizing that this moment was when Violet called Xaden by his first name for the first time ever. Pretty sure it was her first time smiling at him like that too🥺

“As you prefer. Xaden?”

I smile sweetly up at him and inch a little closer.

“Would you pretty, pretty please teach me how to shield before I accidentally climb you like a tree and we both wake up with regrets?”

“Oh, I’m firmly in control of my faculties.”

He smiles again, and I feel it like a caress.

After she begged him to teach her and mastered the shields his POV:

"And when she smiled at me after mastering her shield in mere minutes, her face lighting up as the snow fell around us, I fucking fell. We hadn’t even kissed, and I fell."

He must have felt ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️and later he also says how devastated he felt when she switched to using his last name ...like a literal death blow. I just love their first kiss moment🥹🥹

This is the first scene where Xaden runs into Dain and Violet and I always got the impression that he was being petty and jealous although this is only chapter 5 so how could he? lol But why would he even care if two people he doesnt care about or even dislike were first loves? Through all 3 books he never showed any interest in anyone else's love life lol...is it possible he already felt bitter about them

"I already knew your parents are tight,” Xaden calls out, a cruel smile tilting his lips. “But do you two have to be so fucking obvious?” The few cadets who are still in the rotunda turn to look at us. “Let me guess,” Xaden continues, glancing between Dain and me. “Childhood friends? First loves, even?"

...... ..

“I expected you to do a better job of hiding where your affections lie, Aetos.” Xaden moves, walking down the steps. Shit. Shit. Shit. “Run, Violet,” Dain orders me. “Now.” I bolt.

Edit: This isn't a diss post I love jealous Xaden just wasn't sure if I can count this scene as one of those moments it would also show that he already had feelings for her this early on if he was...

Help me understand...what did Xaden mean by this exactly? Why did Violet feel mortified? Sounded innocuous enough to me so I must be missing something...

“She really, honestly hasn’t thought about you. At least not since the second she set eyes on me.”

Violet barely reacted because she was pissed but it was really sweet and nice to finally see Xaden just openly and honestly admitting how much he loves her after all they went through...

Halden and Xaden had met before Xaden put him to a wall? They must have right? Son of the king and the son of duke of Tyrrendor?

I noticed that Xaden hates it when Violet puts distance between them or doesn't wanna talk to him...which is not often but even from the beginning when she ran into him the day before the final gauntlet test and didn't care where he'd been, he stops her and makes her tell him what's going on...

After their kiss at montserrat, he shows up outside her room super early worrying Mira would die and Violet would never forgive him...

Then in IF after he told her about his second signet, instead of coming to bed and fighting him she spent the night at the library. It was heartbreaking to see how he was so scared she'd give up on him.

“Let me in. If only for a second, please let me in.”

“I need to know you’ll be here. That no matter what happens, you’ll come back so we can talk it out or fight it out.”

It is heartbreaking to see the trauma he's had from his mom leaving, then his dad, and now he's so afraid of losing the one person who gave him the love and warmth he craved so much ...🥺

So...we are told that magic likes things in balance and Violet was given so much power because of her fragile body...but then... What's Xaden's balance? He was given the vast power from Sgaeyl, already the best fighter then became even more formidable after his second signet manifested...is that his mentality?

What about Brennan's? Honestly menders are so amazing imagine someone can save your loved ones after deadly injuries in a matter of hours....then he was described as a gifted rider and extremely intelligent so where is the balance in that?

Xaden spending Violet's every unscheduled moment with her in FW sounds more like he desperately wanted to be around her and it also would have blocked any other man trying to hang with her🤣

Were they always hostile towards each other? Or did it really start after Violet showed up and they were jealous of each other?

Their clothing seems pretty modern sometimes and middle ages sometimes. Uniforms seem modern other than lack of zippers, but they all wear tunics when they aren't wearing uniforms. Even the dress Violet wore seems pretty daring and modern.

And they wear underwear but do girls wear bras? I guess Violet doesn't when she wears her armor...

Xaden tells Violet that whatever it was they were doing should be kept on the DL and even though she agreed immediately, he follows up by saying it isn't really because he doesn't want anyone to find out about her.

“I just don’t trust my temper if anyone says—”

Thought it was kinda sweet he wanted her to know that. And it was also clear in his POV Chapter where he fantasizes about being with her "If I did that, every rider in this room would look at her differently, and not in a good way. " It wasn't just the chain of command issue like Violet was thinking...and it was sweet that he wanted her to know that the reason he doesn't want to advertise their relationship isn't because he's ashamed or is having regrets but to protect her repuatation.

Then the shocking part for me was that Xaden Riorson turned out to be a guy who loves PDA. From downright making out in front of anyone and everyone to holding hands everywhere like a part of his body has to be attached to her at all times LOLLLL he was in such a hurry to marry her too like since the beginning of OS ohh man

That there's something going on between X and V and no it's not wanting to kill each other?

Garrick would have been the first one as he already noticed when Xaden challenged her on the mat but Imogen was still worried he'd kill Violet at the time so I wonder...

Would it have been obvious by the time they were sparring all the time through their body language? We see Xaden holding the door for her, sitting by her side in infirmary, letting her put him on his back and stradle him on the mat, sitting next to her and placing his arm around her chair in Montserrat etc...

I just feel like they would have been so obvious😂

Aside from needing an heir..do you guys think Xaden actually wants babies
