Accelerating Advice

cross posted

I recently had my boss tell me that young moms are never successful (I became a mom at 18) and that I would eventually drop out/not finish my degree. I am approximately 54% of the way done with my degree and would naturally like to prove her wrong because I’m not sure what compelled her to say that to her employee??? Anyways!! I could use all the tips and tricks for accelerating. I’ve been slacking a lot but would like to use this as motivation to finish my degree because I’m not about to prove her right. So any and all advice for accelerating is greatly appreciated. I’m an accounting major. TYIA!!!!

35k in debt at 23

I am in need of of some serious advice. I’m currently 23, and my husband and I have about 35k in debt, 12k is our car, 3k is a medical bill, 17k is credit cards, and 2k in a personal loan. We’ve paid off about 10k of debt this year but I still feel like we’re drowning. We have about $600 a month leftover after all minimum payments and bills are paid but I just dont know where to go from here. We bring in about $4300 a month after taxes, but I’m hoping my income will go up after school.

Any and all advice is welcome!!

18 classes, possible?

Hello! I have decided to make it a goal to finish my remaining 18 classes come August. My term ends at the end of July. I’m going to try and accelerate a couple more before then so I have less to do but if I don’t I will have 18 classes.

Im honestly looking for some advice with accelerating as I’m just done with being in school.

D076 FINALLY passed!!!

I have been putting off this class for so long after my first attempt and I finally passed today!

It is a challenging class, but it’s absolutely passable if you focus on understanding the concepts.
Here are the biggest things I took from the class.

Memorize the different ratios. Understand what each one measures, what a higher or lower value means, and who actually uses each ratio (creditors, investors, or management).

Learn the DuPont Framework. Know how profit margin, asset turnover, and equity multiplier affect ROE.

Understand DFN and SGR. Know what causes DFN to go up or down. Higher profitability generally lowers DFN because the company generates more internal financing. Higher sales growth usually increases DFN because the business needs more assets to support growth.

Be comfortable with bonds, preferred stock, common stock, NPV, IRR, perpetuities, and constant-growth models. Pay attention to the assumptions behind each one.

Understand concepts instead of formulas, don’t focus on memorizing all the formulas. The OA asks a lot of application questions. If you know why something happens, you’ll be able to answer questions even if they’re worded differently than the textbook.

Do active recall. Quiz yourself instead of rereading the material. If you can’t explain a concept in your own words, keep reviewing it until you can.

Don’t panic if you don’t feel 100% ready**.** I walked into the exam convinced I was going to fail because there was always “one more thing” I could study. You probably know more than you think.

Help! 5 weeks left in term

I am STRUGGLING with D076. Finance Skills is kicking my you know what. My term ends in 5 weeks and I still need to finish Finance Skills AND Taxation 1. I’m seeking tips on how to finish these both. I’ve worked on both of them and I’ve even gotten mentors help with D076. I’m just ready to be done. I’ve been working on this class for a year and a half now.

D076 Help finance skills for managers

Hi! Can I get some advice for D076? I’ve been trying to pass this class and just cannot seem to do it. I cannot pass the OA readiness exam. I thought I was ready, but I was not. Failed it for the 3rd time and starting to feel hopeless.

Bed Bug Paranoia

Woke up this morning with bug bites on my back and arm. My fiance and son didn’t have any bites. I checked all over our mattress, behind the bed, and box spring and didn’t see any bugs. What’re the chances that we have them and I just can’t find them? We get married in 8 days and I’m so paranoid 😭

Seeking Advice - Clinical Anxiety

Hello,

I’ve been strongly considering psychiatry for my career path, but have some anxiety about non-psychiatric clinicals during med school. I’m choosing psychiatry as I have a passion for the science behind mental health, but I’m uneasy when I’m in a rotation that does not pertain to psych. I don’t love the thought of being hands on in rotations like surgery/er. Were you mostly observing? I do not enjoy bodily fluids/injuries and am concerned. Has anyone else gone into psychiatry while struggling with this?

Thank you all :)

D102 Financial Accounting vs C237 Taxation 1

I’m getting married at the end of the month and want to finish at least one more class beforehand. I’m taking my OA for D076 this week and I’m feeling fairly confident I’ll pass.

Would D102 Financial Accounting or C237 Taxation 1 be easier to finish before the last week in May? I’m hoping to bust it out before the 25th.
