A little later than I planned originally, but thanks to everyone who took part in the question swap. The compiled list has been sent out with a couple of notes.

If you were expecting the questions but didn't get them, please check your recent emails as there were a couple of people I messaged about issues with submissions. If I get updated lists from these people, I will get them added and send out an updated version of the question swap to all.

It was more time consuming than I though and definitely more effort. I will give it a little time and consideration before the next one and will look to improve the process too. I will let you know when question swap 2 is coming up though!

The submission window for the first Question Exchange is closed. I will get these all compiled and sent out to users who participated over this weekend most likely, or definitely by the end of the month at the latest depending on life throwing anything unexpected my way!

There was a lot of positive response to my suggestion for a question exchange, so we will go ahead and give it a go.

While a few people asked about not doing categories, I think for the first one at least, I will ask for some questions in categories, but still with some freedom too.

This will not be for picture rounds/printout sheets/music/media rounds - although we may try that at a later point if it goes well.

As for what we are looking for, please submit a word document or google doc with questions clearly written. Please include any options if you submit multiple choice questions. Please submit your document with:

10 Geography/The World questions,

10 Science/Tech/Nature questions,

10 Entertainment (Movies/Books/TV/Games/anything on that line) questions,

20 questions on any other subjects the writer chooses

Please make sure the questions are accessible, and would work if used around the world. Please make sure they are accurate and up to date. Please avoid current event questions if possible, or word them in a way that they would still work in future. And please do not just ask ChatGPT for 50 questions and put them in a doc, as we will be able to tell!

While there is a possibility of duplicates coming up, unless there are obviously entirely/obviously duplicated submissions, I won't be policing that too strongly. I will try to give submissions a check for question quality though. Anything either too easy, or too insanely difficult would be declined.

Please send your submission to questionswap@shaunholroyd.com by the end of June 23rd, and the collection will then be reviewed and sent out to all participants at the end of the month. I will also put a post in the reddit to let you know to check your emails. (Note: This is a new email address I just created, but should work ok. Please let me know if there are any issues).

This is a first time running anything like this for me, so please be understanding if im a little slow to answer questions or such, as I am doing this on top of a full time job, and organising a regular charity quiz too. I really hope this goes well, and am looking forward to see how others around the world write their questions.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to see if there was any interest in doing a question exchange? This would be done by members submitting a document with say 50 questions split into say 10 Gen Knowledge, 10 Science/Nature, 10 Geography, 10 Music/Entertainment, and 10 Weird and Wonderful (any topic so long as it is fun). Every member who submits a document will then receive copies of all submitted documents from every user, so if 10 ppl joined, you would get 450 questions for your 50. If it goes well, this could be a semi-regular event.

These should be good quality, fact checked, tried and tested, not bulk created in chat GPT questions. These would be reviewed and if they were too low quality they would not be accepted. They should also be accessible as well - i.e. not too stuck in a single location/country as we will have members around the world and local questions from Lincoln, Nebraska are not going to work well for hosts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia!
Let me know in the comments if you would be interested in this (and any other suggestions for details/rules etc), and if there is enough support, I can see about getting this set up.
