Solo summit to Mount Adams
Summited Mount Adams for the first time. I ended up doing it alone. Packed way too much thinking it was going to be cold. It was hot. Ended up camping much lower than lunch counter. There are couple of streams along the way. I was able to drink out of those using my water filter. Definitely bring a stove, lighter, fuel and a small stove to heat up and boil water. I would say i ended up needing about 10L of water. 3L carrying, the rest i pretty much boiled/drank out of the stream. There are people nearby but i would still bring a bear spray just incase. Ended up sleeping really really well. Woke up at 3:30. Got ready and started heading out at 4. I could see the Oregon fire in the distance. It was the only thing glowing in the pitch black. Not windy at all so it was beyond quiet. This mountain is the mother of false summits.
Overall really nice summit that gets you introduced into mountaineering. Do not be fooled. This is still a dangerous mountain as people have died on this. Definitely bring an ice axe if you’re planning and definitely check the weather.
I’m planning on doing Mount Hood next and looking for anyone interested. Its way too late in the season but would like to do it in April/May next year!
